We walked by Piano grill during the day and saw the menu which looked interesting. We were not disappointed that we decided to book. The e-booking system worked well and the staff were attentive and helpful without being overbearing. Everything about the meal was faultless. We had a nice 50cl pichet of Viognier, the carpaccio of Seabass and the home made foie grois were lovely. I tend to steer shy of pork as so often it is overcooked and dry but the 'Pluma of Iberico' interested me as I had not come across it before. The waiter explained the cut to me and I took a punt on it. What a fantastic choice it was. succulent and very tasty - cooked medium rare- a rare treat. Margy had the swordfish which was equally good. And the best mashed potato that we have had for some time. It is a shame that we were only visiting Strasbourg - this restaurant would have made a great local eating house for us (and we can be very very critical of...
Read moreWe ate there yesterday during our short trip to Strasbourg. Found it via the recommendations article online but booked a time at the last minutes (15 min before entering). Hopefully, we got a table as after one hour the restaurant was full and people were waiting in the queue. The service was great, the waitresses were friendly, spoke English (was important to us). We ordered the steak with bearnaise and the truffled mashed potatoes, it was good, purée was unexpected but the taste with meat was just to the point. The foie gras as a started was also delicious. We also have tried two Chocolate Fondants, they were as great as they should be, the sorbet they were served with was also good (my friend who normally doesn’t eat any kinds of Sorbets, finished his one). Do recommend, especially if you are in the city for a couple of days when all other places are...
Read moreLet's start with the positives. I was accepted on a busy Saturday evening, without a reservation. A party of 3. The place looked cozy and the staff were welcoming.
We were suggested a main dish of large '1kg ribeye' at a whopping 130€. Which regardless of the price, we decided to try. Never have I been more dissapointed with the outcome. The cut was containing at least 30% fat and there was barely lean meat on it. Mind you, the meat was not the best either. The side dish of potatoes and roasted vegetables were nice. The selection of sauces was also nice.
Once finished, the staff asked how was it and I told them the truth. They were sorry we did not like it and I was given a glass of wine and 2 shots of rum from the house.
Ended up paying 236€ for the dinner with a very sour taste on the month.
So dissapointed from what looked a...
