The indomitable and resourceful Travelling Gourmet TM Dr. Michael Lim visits Strasbourg in Alsace and stays in…

MAGNIFICENT Cour du Corbeau whose past guests include the Tsar of Russia and Voltaire.

This 15th Century inn is right out of the The Three Musketeers”. I expected D’Artagan to leap out at any second with his razor sharp Rapier ready to do battle with the henchmen of the Cardinal de Richelieu! This one of the best hotels that I have ever stayed in.

Location wise it is in a very strategic place and near near the important tourist worthy sights like Strasbourg Cathedral. When I was there recently, it was just a hop, skip and jump to the Marche de Noel or Christmas Market. Although the exterior of this lovely historic hotel is very old and looks like a set of The Three Musketeers movie, the interior is all high-tech modern fittings in the most luxurious and comfortable decor imaginable. After all, this hotel is part of the Accor Memorable Gallery or M Gallery Collection, which is their equivalent of the Hilton’s Waldorf Astoria brand. The Cour du Corbeau is also just a 2 minute stroll to the River Ill. The River Ill that runs through Starsbourg feeds the mighty River Rhine. I stayed in their luxurious and magnificent suite which was most salubrious. Breakfast is also wonderful with eggs, cheeses, yoghurt,...

The location is very convenient if you are arriving by car. The hotel provided all the details on how to arrive, where to park including the discount for the secured and covered parking beforehand. The room was spacious and super clean, had all the amenities needed and complimentary Nespresso coffee, tea and water were much appreciated. We also greatly appreciated the staff's courtesy and availability on all our requests. The breakfast was good with big variety of cold and menu with hot dishes if anyone interested, though we would appreciate more vegan options e.g., pastries, yoghurt, etc. The bed was super comfy and we had a great sleep, also with very quiet environment despite the central location.||The hotel provide discount for the parking and various tours, which was nice. We also borrowed umbrellas and we could leave the luggage for a couple of hours with no problem. The marmalade greeting gift from the staff was a nice touch too! ||Definitely would recommend and will stay again if find great deals as it is a little pricey. ||There is no much really, but the internal beautiful courtyard probably need some refreshing touch as we were looking forward to to see its beauty, but found it rather lacking some attention/maintenance e.g., flowers and...

An amazing hotel! Should be awarded a 5-star status, in my opinion. Everything has been done with soo much care, love and attention. The rooms are of a very high standard. Spacious, elegant, clean, and modern. The hotel is built in 11 old buildings, which have been merged into one and perfectly renovated. Breakfast is very rich and has loads to choose from. Next to the usual, there are loads of fresh food and petit desserts (like small crème brûlée, panna cotta, and many more). Further one can order different kinds of eggs from the kitchen. Room service is very quick and the cocktails are delicious. The personnel at the front desk, at the bar, and the bell-boys are extremely friendly and helpful. Loads of thought have been put in the emails before arriving as the place is pretty difficult to reach by car, when ignoring these emails. I even got a WhatsApp message with the directions. Also very kind information on what to do during the visit, including places to eat (and whether they are open or closed during the Christmas period). Nothing negative to say about our visit.

Beautiful hotel in the heart of Strasbourg but the room was not the one we booked (Deluxe 32 m2) Liked · A little tricky to access but the messages received from the hotel staff a few days earlier were right on the money. Beautiful hotel in the heart of Strasbourg. Nicely decorated in a pretty old building (Frederick the Great and the famous French writer Voltaire used to sleep there), the atmosphere is warm and cosy. Very nice and helpful staff (we had quite a lot of luggage). The room is well decorated. The bed/sheets were awesome. Super clean room and bathroom. Lots of restaurants nearby. 5 mins walk from the cathedral and other landmarks. They do not have a parking garage but there is an underground parking in the next street (24 euros/day). Disliked · We booked a deluxe room, 32 m2 but we end up with a small room, probably around 20 m2, certainly not what was described as the Deluxe room on the website. Breakfast is WAY too expensive! Get out of the hotel, plenty of café and bakeries for a WAY cheaper breakfast).

A beautiful hotel in a great location. The hotel dates back to the 1500s (I was told.) I was afraid that this would mean cramped rooms. But the rooms were very nice and well appointed. The only thing that was a little cramped was the actual toilet. The bed was comfortable with four nice, firm pillows. My room had a door to a terrace that runs along the inside courtyard of the building. The staff was very pleasant. The breakfast was not cheap, but quite good. There is no gym, though they said they have maps of running paths in the neighborhood. The location is also great. There are a lot of cafes and restaurants near by. There are two museums two minutes away and the cathedral is less than ten minutes away. There is also a very nice little grocery store just across the bridge. The only thing is that there is a primary school right next door, so in the daytime it can get a bit noisy, especially when the kids are let out. But since my room faced the courtyard I didn't hear any noise. The staff was very friendly.
