Citotel des Arts — Hotel in Strasbourg

This is a 2 star hotel, so we didn't expect luxury. Our room was large enough, with full length mirror, view over the river and a quiet square (as opposed to the one outside the front door, that was lively).Bathroom the usual tiny space but all was clean. Shabby carpet and not many hangers in the wardrobe, but a desk and chair gave room to organise one's stuff and write postcards. NB: no lift, and we were on second floor. Not a problem for me, who managed the 332 spiral steps to the cathedral viewing platform, but be aware!) Breakfast was good, self-service, but with lots of fruit and an orange juicer. Reception staff friendly and helpful, and gave us a better free map than the one from the tourist office. Also helped us with how to get to right tram station for Euro Quarter etc. Not manned after 9pm, but you have a card with code for entry. Situation is excellent, a stone's throw from the cathedral, tourist office, quay for boat trips, and dozens of restaurants with great food....

Was visiting Strasbourg to see my daughter who was working there for a few months. Strasbourg itself is a beautiful place and I'd happily go back some time. Would not stay at this hotel again though. The one positive is that it is very well situated, very central, near the cathedral Notre Dame and restaurants, bars and shops all close at hand. 20 minutes walk from the train station. As soon as we entered the building we were met with an unpleasant smell. Over the days it varied between cheese, plumbing or a mixture of both. The room was very basic, no heating in the bathroom so it was freezing in there. The shower hose wasn't adjustable and was directed over the top of the shower door. We had to hold it and wash that way. The hotel needed a re-furb. We didn't eat breakfast there so cannot comment on that. Avendo prenotato all'ultimo erano presenti poche scelte di Hotel, nonostante diverse recensioni negative abbiamo deciso comunque di prenotare qui sperando nel meglio. Purtroppo anche da noi la recensione sarà negativa in quanto la semplice posizione non può prescindere da pulizia, cura della stanza, servizi. Ne esce fuori un quadro decisamente negativo, una delle poche recensioni basse che finora abbiamo dato ad un Hotel.||Andando con ordine la posizione dell'hotel è ottima, in pieno centro storico, fa da contraltare la difficoltà di trovare parcheggio venendo in macchina; l'ingresso è un pò nascosto fra i tavolini di due bar/ristoranti, una volta trovato la reception è aperta della 6 alle 24 (nelle 6 ore di chiusura la porta è chiusa ma viene comunicato un codice per sbloccarla); le persone all'accoglienza sono gentili e parlano tranquillamente inglese. Saliti in camera al primo piano senza ascensore abbiamo trovato una stanza di piccole dimensioni, con moquette a terra che non da particolare sensazione di pulizia ma lascia nella stanza un cattivo odore che non va via neanche tenendo le finestre aperte (finestre che comunque danno sui tavolini dei bar sottostanti, con quello che significa in termini di rumore e privacy), mancava l'acqua calda (per lavori effettuati in altre camere, è tornata solo in serata), il condizionatore è presente ma non attivo (prima settimana di giugno, 33 gradi di massima, ma l'impianto sarà attivato "più avanti") il Wi-Fi non prende e di fatto è utilizzabile solo nella reception e nella sala colazione (non compresa) al piano terra.||Il lato peggiore è però il bagno: decisamente da rimodernare, la doccia è antiquata e ci sono pezzi che si tengono sù con silicone a vista, non è presente il phon. La pulizia poi: nella doccia abbiamo trovato il sapone usato dei precedenti avventori.||Per concludere se volete un ostello pagandolo come un Hotel per avere una posizione perfetta questo Hotel 2 stelle fa per voi, se avete un minimo di esigenze per quanto riguarda stanza, bagno e pulizia,...
