Saveurs Salentina — Restaurant in Thonon-les-Bains

Four of us stumble upon this Italian specialty eatery while looking for a an early Sunday dinner spot. A cozy interior and al fresco dining on the adjacent plaza is available. The sandwich bread is baked on site daily and the calzones are sometng to remember. We are offered good variety of complementing flavors with healthy vegetarian options, and individual portions are properly sized. One can choose between two beers and several wines. Desert selections, including tiramisu beckon. The owner and staff are warm and friendly. We hear the story behind the name of the restaurant and the focus on authentic Italian food. As we savor our meal, we strike up a conversation with a local patron who helps communication since none of us speak good French. He tells us that he comes in daily, because the food reminds him of his late Italian grandmother's cooking. We leave satiated. Saveurs Salentina is a must...

We went here for lunch based on the good Google Maps reviews and this did definitely not disappoint us.

We went with the Schiacciatta Trepuzzi and it was absolutely amazing. The bread was fluffy and crispy, the truffle cream and mozzarella were both super creamy and the ham was so tender and melting on your tongue. 10/10!

As a dessert we went with a fried pizza stuffed with loads of Nutella. The taste was great, but hard to put your finger on. It has something from doughnut or some kind of french fries after the first kick of Nutella and chocolate. Surprising combination,...

J'y suis venue aujourd'hui au déjeuner avec une amie, n'attendant rien de spécial, et pour tout dire, nous n'y sommes allées que parce qu'un autre restaurant était complet. Je m'imaginais que c'était le genre d'endroit où l'on mange, parce qu'il faut bien manger, mais dont on ne garde pas un souvenir impérissable. Honte à moi !! Ne vous fiez donc pas aux apparences, et courez-y : c'est tout simplement délicieux, et en une bouchée, je me suis retrouvée devant le Colisée !!! La cuisson des pâtes est super maîtrisée, la sauce à base de fromage de brebis (Cacio e pepe) exhalait un fumet divin, et la dégustation.... un régal ! Quant au panzeroti, une découverte totale : un petit chausson tout dodu, hyper appétissant, vraiment savoureux, fondant à l'intérieur, croustillant à l'extérieur, ni gras, ni lourd, juste parfait. Les patrons (adorables, l'un comme l'autre) sont aux petits soins pour leurs clients : un problème technique a retardé le service de notre plat (pour être honnête, on ne s'en était même pas rendu compte...) et le tiramisu (à se damner; si, si!!) nous a été offert ! Bref, aucun point négatif, que du bonheur, et le plaisir d'avoir trouvé un super endroit pour manger de vrais plats italiens, préparés avec amour, qui ont un sacré goût de "revenez-y"... ce que nous ne manquerons pas de faire !! Merci pour ce très beau moment.
