Quick Info - Type of food: Typical American Fast Food Waiting Time: Usually about 10 - 15 minutes, but at busy times, like with all Disney fast food places, you might have to search or wait for a table to be free for at least the same time. Prices: Menus between 12€ and 15€, soft-drinks about 3,30€
Intro - The "Hakuna Matata" is a nice-looking place for food in the park.
Payment and food pickup is handled in the first area and is done like in most of the park's restaurants, thus waiting lines and pickup time is about equal to all of the others and ranges, in most cases, between five and ten minutes, of course this is always subject to change depending on the general state of the park, time and day, it usually fits the expected fast food business times. Like with all the fast food places in Disneyland, though, at busy times, like around noon, you might have to search and wait standing easily 15 - 20 more minutes for a free table inside, or eat outside, which can be a problem in cold seasons. Thus I recommend, if you're in a group, to have one person get a table first, otherwise your food might be cold before you find a place to sit.
The Venue - The most interesting feature of the place is certainly its look. There's a "Timon" and a "Pumbaa" area which don't really differ too much. Both are made to look like a cave, though well-lit, with brown walls and ground and animal reliefs and symbols made out of smaller tiles. Artificial plants are set up at various positions, giving the place the fitting jungle- and tree-look in between.
There is Lion King music playing to fit the theme, which is very nice at first, but usually already repeats after three or so songs, so it can be a bit irritating for longer or repeated stays. (My pity goes to the personell, who endures the repetition the whole day)
A small number of the employees, not the ones taking the orders, but partially the cleaning personell, sadly doesn't speak English.
Ultimately, it's a really nice look that fits great into the theme of this area of the park.
The Food - Drinks and deserts are the same soft-drinks, hot drinks and ice cream as in the other restaurants. The main foods are chicken stripes, salad and a "kebab sandwich" which is basically what you're used from regular kebab stores, just slightly smaller with flatter bread and with mostly only meat inside, not the varying kinds of salad.
The standard side-dish are "Hakuna Fries", fries that are flatter and wider than normal french fries, but ultimately the same. Due to the flatness the edges are prone to getting hard in the frying process more easy than with regular French Fries or Steakhouse Fries, so this can at times make it harder to get them onto your fork, but otherwise it's really the same, given a nicer look for a change, though.
I'm satisfied with the taste of the food, of course all times considering that you're a fan of fast food to begin with. The Kebab's meat is quite strongly seasoned and oiled, which gives it a very great taste, at least it's to my liking, but might not be too fun for people who prefer mild food.
The fries taste about the same all fries do and are usually served with mayonnaise and ketchup.
If you prefer more-healthy food, in this case you shouldn't be in this case place to begin with, they also offer mixed fruits as a desert which are fine but usually very cold as they're pre-packaged in a cooler until being served.
Prices are in the same range as in the other fast food restaurants in the park with single meals set in between 7€ and 10€ so that it's usually cheaper, and most likely intended, to go for one of the available menus for 12€ to 15€.
In general, for fans of fast food, like myself, the food tastes nice. The prices go along with the rest of the park and you should plan accordingly. Considering it is a "Timon and Pumbaa" place, though, it's really a pity none of the food is made to look bug-themed or go with the Lion King...
Read moreWe stopped by to grab a quick lunch, but would not eat here again. We visited mid-December 2022. The facility is poorly organized and not friendly to those with mobility issues. My wife was going to order our food and bring it to a table, but the staff refused to let me sit at any table despite seeing me hobble in with a cane. The young guy who prevented me from sitting did not speak any English, but gestured that we had to have a tray of food to be seated. He tried to do his best. We could not place an online order because the app was not working properly. Despite only having a three families in front of our line, it took 40 minutes to get our order. A tall guy who appeared to be overworked was doing his best to escort guests to their tables. I got the Lion's Feast and it was underwhelming. The meats were dry and without flavor. The fries received did not match what was displayed in the picture. Despite having seen kitchen staff placing food under heat lamps, everything we ate was room temperature. An hour later, my stomach was not feeling right. If I ever returned to this theme park, I would have no plans...
Read moreHad lunch at this restaurant during our visit to the Disneyland Paris. Disneyland offers a wide variety of different food in the form of restaurant. Each has a theme and the food and ambience goes along with it. Hakuna Matata is present in the Adventure Land part or more specifically the wildlife part of the park. As on paper and as you guys must have guessed, it offers a wide variety of African or subcontinental type dishes like Kebabs, Rice beans, potato fries and meat. The food to my surprise wasn't spicy at all and even my family could have a light hearted meal . To be honest going into this restaurant with the ambience based on Timon Pumba and Simba from Lion King one expects a wide mouth watering spice filled dishes. It's good for the stomach after a hectic day in the hot tub. But as a taste savior I would have preferred a more palatable...
