This izakaya-style restaurant was recommended to us by a Japanese person, so we knew we had to try it out. Unlike most Japanese restaurants in Toulouse, this one is actually Japanese-run. The tatami mats were a pleasant surprise. The sashimi platter had 5 types of fish (2 slices each) - better variety than most other sushi places here. There was salmon, tuna, octopus, squid and sea bream. Between the two of us, we ordered five dishes, and they all came at once within 10 minutes. The staff were friendly, hardworking and professional too. For two hours we forgot that we were in France :P

If you want a slightly cheaper meal you can just take the Ramen which is usually enough to fill one up. The service is very good and quick. The main downside of the restaurant is that they don't allow you to stay after a set time, even if you're still ordering food. Limiting the amount of time one can stay in is definitely not great and it should be handled better. The restaurant is very crowded so a reservation is pretty much obligatory. The desserts are fantastic, in particular the Sakura Mochi was a...

Even the French waitstaff speak some Japanese. The cook/owner is from the Kansai region of Japan and brings those colloquial flavors to this Izakaya(similar to a pub or Tapas bar). If you are dining alone I recommend menu de soir which is a delightful combination of dishes and includes desert. For 2 I recommend sharing menu de soir and a couple small plates. If you have 3 or more people I recommend ordering a variety of dishes to share off the menu. Don't...
