Le Café Chouchou — Restaurant in Toulouse

We managed to book a place for dinner at valentines day here and we struck gold. We came back the day after for lunch. The first night our waitress did not speak a lot of English but did her best asking around to the cook and the other waiters how to translate some words from French to English. Great service overall. The lamb and vegetables i had for dinner were delicious and my girlfriend couldn't stop eating the pepper sauce. The fish was nicely cooked and tasty. For lunch the day after we had the lunch menu (which you can choose starter, main and dessert for 19€) and it was really good bang for the buck. We were stuffed after and took our time enjoying our white wine...

Malheureusement une expérience bien regrettable … Un tartare de câpres et non de bœuf, vinaigré, salé, « câpré » … nos lèvres et nos estomacs s’en souviendront ! Par respect nous n’avons rien voulu dire, le restaurant étant plein … Nous le signalons à la serveuse une fois qu’elle vient débarrasser et elle nous dit que ce n’est pas la première fois et que des clients se sont déjà plaints « pour être honnête avec vous » … Nous essayons de ne pas partir déçus et commandons un dessert … Nos papilles bien abîmées sont incapables d’apprécier cette douceur … Notre hôte, gérant des lieux, à qui nous racontons gentiment notre mésaventure, nous fait royalement « un geste commercial de 10% » et nous explique qu’il a un apprenti en cuisine et que ça arrive … Ce jeune homme n’entend pas et reste sur ses positions … il ne nous a pas donné envie d’y revenir malheureusement! Alors, futurs clients! … comme le monsieur nous a dit « il fallait le dire et ne pas hésiter … » … Il semblerait qu’il faille changer un brin de mentalité à...

We've just had our last meal in France, after a great autumn holiday. This spot was really welcoming, the food was great (we had razor clams - very fresh - and some steaks) and when we said we needed to get out on time to catch our plane they sorted it fine.
