We had a mixed experience with our 2 night stay at this Accor property. Weâre greatly impacted by initial impressions and thatâs why the reception staff are so important as they set the tone for the property. We arrived after driving 2.5 hours from the country and were greeted with indifference and what felt almost as being intruders. The âopen suitcaseâ that the receptionist sits behind is perhaps one of the most uninviting âdeskâs weâve ever experienced and we would encourage the hotel with abandoning it post haste. ||We were ushered off to our room, one of the best in the hotel, fortunately escorted by another staff member who had greater warmth and kindness. We had booked a 3-room âsuiteâ with terrace and it was lovely. The terrace was perhaps too dark but the living area was a good size and we made good use of it. ||We received a welcome note from the General Manager, which was on the bed when we arrived. It welcomed us and congratulated my wife on her birthday as we were there to celebrate it. The note mentioned some special chocolates as a gift. Unfortunately, there were no chocolates. ||On going out for the night, we gave the note to the receptionist, who appeared stumped by it and was unsure how to respond. A prompt apology and Iâll get it fixed ASAP were likely appropriate under the circumstances but nothing came. ||When we returned to our room that night, still no âspecial chocolatesâ. Oh well, not to worry. We did receive turn down service, which I wasnât expecting, and there were 2 small 3-packs of chocolate-coated almonds by our beds. Interestingly, there was no turn down service on the second night. ||We ate at the restaurant for breakfast both days as it came with our room. A good selection of options were available. Once again, service was a little mixed. ||On checking out we were delighted to meet a young lady on reception who had a wonderful manner, good humour and a tremendous northern-English accent to her French one. I so wish we had met this lady on our arrival as it probably would have changed our overall experience. In addition, we had a great car waiting to transfer us to the airport which we very much appreciated, having expected a taxi when we requested it the night before. ||Overall, mixed experience. I expect the hotel may be struggling with staffing like all service industries at present and perhaps we simply encountered...
Read moreDespite nice prior experiences with MGallery hotels, this stay was an accumulation of issues. There were 7 of us across 2 double rooms and a suite (so-called "Memorable"). No upgrade or quiet room locations despite all of us being Platinum/Gold members of the reward program. One of the room was not ready until 7pm. Not enough towels in the suite. No response from the hotel desk when we called from the room. Had to get the door cards redone twice to get all of them working. We had to ask the toilets to be cleaned on arrival - even the door was dirty on the inside. Yuck. Beware that there is no separation in the suite - everyone enjoys everyone's shower, although there is a trace of curtain rails that was once there (but not anymore). The exterior marble of the bathtub is broken, so water leakage all over. And in one of the room, the full shower wall was coming apart and maintenance had to be called in. At breakfast, the buffet was empty at 9:15am (supposed to end at 10am only) and you had to wait 15 minutes for a table of 4. Next day we ordered in the room instead but they forgot the bread. Still no response on the phone so we had to call in via mobile on the exterior landline of the hotel to get a response. So many things...
