I'm a big fan of Ethiopian food as I have eaten it numerous times so when i pass by Makeda and the place was full, I decided to make a reservation.

Unfortunately, the food is changed too much to suit the French palate. The spices are completely toned down that unfortunately one dish to the others doesn't taste any different.

Even the injera doesn't have the slight sourness (it's meant to be as it's a natural fermentation dough). Upon second observation, the customers of this restaurant are French people, not one is Ethiopian, so that says a lot.

The cleanliness, service, and attention to details deserve 5 stars as the place is very well kept and dirty tables quickly cleaned by the waitress.

If you want to try a westernized Ethiopian food with clean cutlery and such do go here,

if taste is what you are chasing after, you better not, especially if you are used to Ethiopian food.. The taste is not worth the expensive...

I can't praise them highly enough.

I'm not well versed in this specific cuisine but I believe that at least for Western palates this restaurant hits the mark. Simple ingredients prepared with care, without the overwhelming complexity which seems to be oddly common in middle-level french restaurants. Nothing of such clear, and you can tell but how well everything goes together. Staff was very friendly and handled our kids well - yes, we managed to steer them away from the nonsense "kids menu" they enjoyed the last few days and get some actual, good food which they loved.

The place is also absolutely clean, another big plus for us southern Europeans visiting...

We went for a veggie selection option and got four small bowls : one with rice , two lentils and one with sautéed courgette.

It was lovely though we were asked about the spicy level and chose “spicy” which was a bit plane to be honest.

Food seemed fresh and authentic Ethiopian pancakes were tangy and spongy as supposed.

I found it a bit too expensive : €20 euros for a small dinner plate and €6.8 for a small glass of wine (average glass in fine wine bars...

We had a lunch here. Delicious food, highly attentive service and cosy ambiente. I felt like I was in somebody’s dining room. The restaurant is small, you need a reservation, even during lunch time it was booked solid. We had a tasting menu with meat and could not be happier with our choice. My two non-lentil eating sons got converted. Ethiopian bread and team rounded up the meal. I was curious to try Ethiopian coffee and was not disappointed. Highly recommended.
