Brilliant French bistro.
This is what it it's about. Bustling lunchtime trade, small tables squeezed together, menus chalked on the walls, friendly efficient very professional service, reasonable prices, but mainly: stunning food.
My starter was excellent, the terrine gorgeous, the accompanying toast fizzing with tastes of herbs and orange peel, the onion compote rich and tasty. My main was an interesting take on magret du canard. The café gourmand was sublime, any one of its six elements would have been a worthy dessert on its own. The coffee rich and strong.
Timing between courses was perfect and the service oozed professionalism with just the right degree of friendly banter. Carafes of water arrived like clockwork without us once having to ask.
