Possibly the worst restaurant experience of the decade. Place looks alright but it begins at the tables which were all sticky. Then the food arrived. Very quickly. Too quickly. The mashed potatoes in the parmantier were mixed with water in stead of butter (you can imagine the texture. ‘Soup’ comes to mind . The whole thing was drowning in fat, but not in a good way. Then the ‘ceasar’. It had no anchovies, no lemon, no Parmesan. But cheap Gouda from a packet, deep fried chicken (more on that later) and ham (?). The kids dish was nuggets and chips. No mayonnaise was available, only a stodgy dried out cup of honey sauce. The deep fried chicken, in the kids meal and the ‘Caesar’, was fried in oil that must have been old in 2009. The deep fried chicken in the salad was almost cold. Not quite, but just on the right side of salmonella. We obviously skipped the dessert. When explaining this as gently as I could to the admittedly affable waiter, no discount or refund was offered until prompted. Upon which, similar to other commenters here, we got 25%.
The cockroach story is illustrating, but the response to that of the owner even more so. Avoid at all costs. A full three Bizarro...
Read moreWe stopped by this location on our travels through France and enjoyed it very much. The inside was spacious and welcoming but also maintained it’s crooks to offer a bit of privacy.
The images on the wall were a mix, but there are frequent images of footballing legends: Gerrard, Ronaldo, Maradona, Cruyff, Henry etc
The food was rich & excellent portion wise - the standout being the egg starter. The mushroom starter was a little too dry, requiring a balancing moisture, but the pasta was flavoursome.
As an establishment in this part of the world, it would be beneficial if they served a still mineral water - not only because it’s microbiologically pure but also balanced in taste - the free tap water has a very strong chemical taste/smell and dried your mouth, which damaged your food experience - the natural mineral waters are very much natural produce of the area, and should be offered (I looked on in envy as a local restaurant served Vittel & Badoit)
The staff were very friendly and patience - considerate of dietary requirements and happy to recommend dishes based on...
Read moreThe waiters did a good job but alas, the most important, the food, was awful: We had here the worst meat we ate in many years (and many countries), I barely managed to eat half of my share. My partner and I had the bad idea to be seduced by a big meats plate for 2 persons: Supposedly "slow-cooked" but actually overcooked, extremely fat and disgusting taste. (A lot of quantity indeed, but I'd prefer somewhat less quantity of something less trashy.) The accompanying sauces were very mediocre. The French fries were ok and low-priced but quite mediocre. The Pinot noir wine was one of the cheapest worst Bourgognes we had in a while (though it was their more expensive choice for a red Bourgogne) - I gave a quick look at their other choices of wines on Vivino - all badly rated, so they must also have an uninspired sommelier. At least the APA beer was ok. We regret being tempted by the funny graphic design of their menu cart - we should instead have visited one of the highest-rated restaurants...
