La Salamandre — Restaurant in Versailles

Exceptionally bad service, completely opposite to the positive reviews here, which were the main reason why we chose this restaurant. When we came, it was busy, so we could understand the lack of attention from the waiter. We just sat on a table, but it seemed that we were unnoticeable. We asked another waiter to serve us, he promised to clean the table and to take our orders. 15 minutes later, there were two tables with French-speaking people who came after us, got menu carts, their orders were collected, but there was absolutely no attention to us! The worst was when we decided to go - they saw us very well, but there was no sign of regret that three gusts =potentially €100 are slipping away... Obviously the restaurant prefers to have clients who are not tourists or at least are French speaking? The bad attitude to clients spoils every single positive review, no matter the quality of food. Humiliating and disrespecting customers is deeply unprofessional. If you do not want to serve us -just say it or find an excuse. Silently ignoring clients will not...

Cosy, friendly and excellent food. We were able to get a table without a reservation tonight and super thankful we did. Food and service were outstanding. The bœuf à la Bourguignonne, penne in shiitake sauce with chicken and the salmon with spinach were delicious and we ate every bite. The suggested wine was exactly to our taste. Our table was on the ground floor, but they also have tables on the first floor. The ground floor has exposed beams and vintage kitchen utensils, with the same chairs my grandmother had in her breakfast room. If you find yourself in Versailles, reserve...

we ate there for lunch 3 days in a row and EVERYTHING was very, very good. we were a group of 9 and they helped us be efficient without feeling rushed. the special of the day was always very good, the crème brûlé aux prunes was spectacular. it was all so good, that my friend and i returned last night for the grilled bar and café gourmet. fantastic. and quality orice ratio is excellent. did i mention the terrific service and lovely atmosphere either inside (cosy) or on the terrasse in the lovely square? friendly,...
