Thorbräu Bierkeller — Restaurant in Augsburg

We were on a big group booking on a day that clearly there was no space for non booked tables. Even though they expected a higher concurrence, it was clear that they were understaffed.

Immediately we got asked for our preferred drinks, and it took around 20 minutes to get them, some orders had to be repeated as they never came.

Just then the main course was asked and it took us between 50 to 75 minutes since we sat in our table to get the food. Again, one of the guests even never got his very simple request: Pommes, He got them mercer served.

The schnitzel I've ordered was very oily and even had black traces of the old oil in it. After that much time of waiting I had not even thought on the option to complain, I needed to eat, we were all starving at that point.

It took me 2 hours to get a drink, end my dish and pay.

The place is nice the atmosphere is also nice with s live band playing outside but clearly the service needs to be reinforced in this days, also they were repeatedly stating they had a very busy day and asking for patience.

Der Thorbräukeller(TBK) überrascht mich jedes Mal aufs Neue! Ob ich nun gemütlich auf einen Kaffee oder eine heiße Schokolade zu zweit an einem verregneten Sonntagabend hingegangen bin, oder unter der Woche lecker essen wollte, jedes Mal bin ich rundum zufrieden herausspaziert. Mit der Holzverkleidung und den Hirschgeweihen an den Decken bekommt man das Gefühl in einer Art Almhütte zu sein, was eine ganz nette Abwechslung zu den vielen anderen „normalen“ Kaffees bzw. Restaurants ist. Die großen Portionen und das schmackhafte Essen lassen keine Wünsche offen, auch auf Extrawünsche oder Überraschungen wird durch Kellner und Küche offen eingegangen und wunderbar in die Tat umgesetzt. Wo wir schon beim Thema Service wären, man wird stets sehr freundlich bedient, sei es nun an einem eher ruhigen Tag in der eher kalten Jahreszeit oder im vollen Biergarten, der im Sommer durch Pflanzen, Dekorationen, Überdachung und Beleuchtung sehr schön gestaltet ist. Die Preise entsprechen den Lokalitäten der Region, wobei es auch einige Aktionen gibt, durch welche man gut sparen und trotzdem super essen kann. Mit einer passenden Lage ist der TBK durch die öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel leicht zu erreichen, vor der Tür sind – trotz Nähe zur Augsburger Innenstadt – reichlich Parkplätze vorhanden.

We went with some friends to try out the TBK. First of all, I have to say that there were two waitresses and one was just a catastrophe, she was talking all the time to a guy and did not look around what was happening, she forgot our orders, was ordering the wrong things and also was super slow and inefficient. The other one (a blond one), who was not the waitress for our area but helped out a bit was quite nice and fast. The food was actually good but nothing special. I had a fresh salat, and the vinaigrette was taking good.
