The building was constructed in the Renaissance style in the late 16th century, replacing an earlier Gothic-style building that had been destroyed by a fire in 1548. The Augsburg City Hall features a striking façade with elaborate ornamentation, including a series of statues and reliefs that depict various historical and mythological figures.

One of the most notable features of the City Hall is the Golden Hall, which is located on the second floor. The Golden Hall was completed in 1643 and features lavish decorations, including gold leaf and frescoes that depict scenes from Augsburg’s history. The hall is used for official ceremonies and events, and is also open to the...

Augsburg Rathausplatz is a beautiful square that’s definitely worth a visit. The architecture is stunning, and it’s a great place to soak in the historic atmosphere of Augsburg. The square is well-maintained and provides a wonderful backdrop for photos.

While there may not be a lot of activities to do directly on the square, its beauty and charm more than make up for it. It’s the perfect spot for a leisurely stroll or to relax and enjoy the surroundings. I highly recommend visiting Augsburg Rathausplatz if you’re in the area. It’s a place that truly captures the essence...

A beautiful and nice place at Christmas time. I guess or I think all areas are decorated with Christmas things and the typical stands. You have enough space to walk in between those lines.

In my opinion to much of the same stands were there. You could nearly buy at every corner sausages, sweets etc. Nothing extraordinary in-between. I missed that.

I was there at lunch time and I didn't like that the area was still dangerous to walk on. It was still slippery from the cold. I don't know who has to look for the safety but that was a big...

The dominant elements here are the townhall and the Perlach tower. The town hall is a gorgeous building in the 17th century style. The tower is even older - around 1000 years, but it was restyled in 1610+ to match the look of the hall. They say, when there is a yellow flag on top - it means that the foen wind is blowing, the weather is clearing, and you can see the Alps from the top. But on 25.04.21 there was no flag, no wind, and the tower itself was closed for visits
