Sightseeing in Augsburg und natürlich mussten wir uns auch das berühmte Goldene Zimmer im Augsburger Rathaus ansehen. Dieses Gebäude zählt zu den bedeutendsten Profanbauten der Renaissance nördlich der Alpen.
Der goldene Saal erstreckt sich über eine Fläche von 552 Quadratmetern (5.940 Quadratfuß) und hat eine Deckenhöhe von 14 Metern (46 Fuß). Er ist reich geschmückt mit großen Türen, prächtigen Wandgemälden und einer Kassettendecke. Der Innenraum des Saals (erst 1643 fertiggestellt) wurde von Johann Matthias Kager entworfen.

Leider sind die Automaten, an denen Sie Ihre Tickets kaufen können, außer Betrieb. Es gibt ein Schild mit der Aufschrift, dass Sie sich für Tickets an die Touristeninformation wenden müssen. Glücklicherweise fanden wir die Information, dass wir das Ticket online kaufen konnten, was wir auch taten.
Die wunderschöne, mit Holz und Gold geschmückte Kammer ist atemberaubend und ein Muss, wenn Sie in Augsburg sind.

Sightseeing in Augsburg and naturally we had to check out the famous golden room at the Town Hall of Augsburg (German: Augsburger Rathaus). This building is one of the most significant secular buildings of the Renaissance style north of the Alps. The golden Hall covers an area of 552 square metres (5,940 sq ft) with a ceiling height of 14 metres (46 ft), it is richly adorned with large doorways, magnificent murals and a coffered ceiling. The interior of the Hall (not completed until 1643) was designed by Johann Matthias Kager.

Unfortunately are the machines were you can buy your tickets are out of order. There is a sign stating to go to the tourist information for tickets. Luckily we found the info that we could buy the ticket online which we did.

Read moreOk, to be honest here, this is basically just one room to visit. But, probably the most awesome room I have ever seen. I mean, it's made of gold... What more do you need?!
On the more technical side: you need to buy a ticket at tourist information centre or they will tell you (politely) to sod off at the entrance, which is extremely stupid and inefficient for Germans.
Also, toilette was closed when I was there last time, don't know if it's usually like this.
In the end, 5€ entrance fee is a fair price for this...
