Böckeler — Restaurant in Baden-Baden

Five stars for great service, my waitress was attentive, sincere, had good eye contact, spoke German and English.

Five stars for ambience. There is plenty of seating. The pastry display is also impressive.

There was a variety of cakes to choose from, but I opted for the Black Forest cake. It was my first time trying it and honestly it was not my favorite. There was more cream than cake and the alcohol taste was strong. The sweetness level was just right, but I would have loved a hint more of vanilla in the cream. The presentation was beautiful, though. I do not know what Black Forest cake should taste like, but next time I would venture for a different cake.

Okay, the Winter salad was amazing ! It was fresh, it had beautiful colors, it had a variety of greens: endives, sprouts, pickled red cabbage and onions, Vibrant red currants, pumpkin seeds, a light creamy lemon dressing. Just try it.

The potato soup was acceptable. The bread that came with it was awesome and hearty ,better than the US.

Went there for breakfast, one of the waitresses was really nice, however the experience wasn’t really worth it. They did warn us about our choice to sit outside, the reason: this place is plagued by wasps, and they seem to have chosen to feed the wasps instead of putting things to drive them away (leaving open jars of jelly for them to feast on in the vicinity of their outside eating area), so yeah needless to say we were swarmed by them and had to just skip eating our own jelly to be a little bit less bothered.

Their bread was simply disappointing, not very fresh tasting and hard. Bad liver sausages, stale pancakes, just disappointing overall. Wouldn’t recommend it for breakfast, though it sure...

Croissants. How to measure, compare and evaluate. Croissants, they are a bit messy to eat, and this has a reason. The quality of the croissants at Böckler are this year, 2020, the best in Baden-Baden. The service is outstanding and pleasantly correct. Price, very very acceptable for what you get. Outside terrace, perhaps what until a table is free, it worth it. All the happy shopping people will pass this terrace sins no cars can go here. For on the run, take a Bretzel...
