I dined here with 3 friends last weekend. We enjoyed the fried aubergine and the fish soup. We found the remainder of food ordered, including century old egg and fried chicken, quite average. We were most disappointed by the dumplings.
For the first 2 hours of our meal, none of the appetizers we ordered ever arrived and incorrect dishes kept coming to the table. We made staff aware of the still missing dishes multiple times and were assured they would be out right away, but over an hour passed with no appetizers. In the end, the main courses came first (one of which was incorrect) and we ultimately received our appetizers after 4-5 more appeals to staff. We never felt that we received a clear explanation as to what was taking so long. We saw the staff bringing complete dishes back into the kitchen from other tables a few times so we felt that something was clearly amiss.
At some point (probably after us politely bothering the staff so much) the staff completely abandoned our table and we resorted to returning empty glasses/getting new utensils from the service station ourselves.
The staff (esp. the owner) did not seem to care that it took almost 3 hours from us to have our complete dinner and of course when it came time to pay, the bill had to be amended because there were items on it that we did not order, and the card machine was of course broken, so we were asked to pay via PayPal - Friends & Family.
In my opinion, the food was not worth the effort and time it...
Read moreIf you’re craving real Sichuan cuisine in Berlin, 0086 is a must-visit. Tucked away from the more touristy spots, this place delivers what is easily the most authentic Chinese food I’ve had in the city — a true taste of Sichuan, without compromise.
What sets 0086 apart is its boldness. The dishes aren’t toned down for the European palate — instead, they come bursting with genuine spice, aroma, and complexity, just as you’d find in Chengdu or Chongqing.
We ordered the lamb with cumin and the sweet and sour aubergine, and both were excellent. The lamb was richly spiced, aromatic, and cooked to perfection — a dish that hit all the right notes of heat and depth. The aubergine was equally impressive: tender, glossy, and balanced with just the right amount of sweetness and tang — no shortcuts or sugary glaze, just pure, nuanced flavor.
Each dish tasted deeply authentic, as if it had come straight from a family-run kitchen in Sichuan. The overall experience was a pleasant surprise, and one that food lovers — especially those familiar with Chinese cuisine — will truly appreciate.
Highly recommended for anyone serious about Chinese food, and a refreshing change from the often westernized options...
Read moreNew Sichuanese restaurant that does everything well, leaving its competitors such as Good Friends and Aroma far behind. Far, far behind actually. I feel comfortable saying this is the best Chinese food in Berlin, that title formally belonging to “Feast” on Meierottostr.
The menu is eclectic with many dishes not seen elsewhere, all of them bursting with flavor, love and quality. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu and that says much for the place.
Friendly and welcoming staff and good atmosphere (for a Chinese restaurant) to add even more praise. And what! Reasonable prices. Much to love here.
NOTE: the restaurant takes pride in ratcheting up spice levels, going as far as to say “bring courage!” This is not your typical dumbed down German Chinese restaurant and thank godness for that. However if you are not a fire-loving-call-112 type, do tell the kitchen to go...
