Birgit's Pub — Restaurant in Berlin

My fiancée shares the same name as the owner of the pub and looking for a venue to watch Germany vs Sweden, we could not think of a better place. We arrived a bit early and all the tables seem to have been reserved! Birgit very kindly introduced herself and not only offered us a different table as we are non smokers, but presented us with German armbands and face paint, as well as miniature German flags. This certainly got us in the mood and fortunately Germany won! At all times both Birgit and her waitress kept an eye on our glasses and we were never left thirsty. sympathische Kneipe, die sich zwar "Pub" nennt, aber gar keinen Pub -Charakter hat, mit freundlicher Wirtin, die im Gegensatz zu vielen Kneipen in der Umgebung einen ordentlichen Bon gibt bei jeder Bestellung. das ist hoch anzurechnen.

die zettelwirtschaft bei allen anderen Kneipen schreit nach Steuerhinterziehung. hier ist alles korrekt.

allerdings gibt es auch ein bißchen kritikpunkte und zwar:

die Preise: das 0.5 Bier ist preislich unattraktiv, weil es nach oben hin nicht preiswerter wird.

das 0,1 mehr zu dem 0, 4 Bier ist exakt 50 Cent mehr, also die alte ( und immer noch übliche rechenweise ) 1 DM! das ist ungewöhnlich, in fast allen Kneipen, wird das größere Bier prozentual preisgünstiger, wenn man ein größeres nimmt!

also lohnt das 0,5 Bier hier nicht, denn dann trinkt man lieber kleinere, weil sie dann frischer sind. also müsste man eher zum 0,4 greifen.

außerdem sind wir bei 3,40 €, bald an der magischen von Kneipenfachleuten immer noch bewerteten 7 -Mark -Grenze für ein großes Bier, in einer Gegend, die eher tot ist dort in der fritschestr. wir befinden uns schließlich nicht in einem teuren touristenzentrum.

ganz großer kritikpunkt: das flaschenbier! da ist die 7 Markgrenze mit 3,50 erreicht! und für einen wirt lukrativ, fast das 4fache vom einkaufspreis wird hier erreicht. In Restaurationskreisen ein "no go". da sind fair das 3 -fache üblich.

ich glaube, die nette wirtin würde mehr Umsatz haben, wenn sie in beiden Bereichen mit dem Preis runtergeht. man würde mehr trinken.

Something different about this place. Imagine a sports bar where you can smoke inside but somehow it’s like your living room at home, it’s tastefully lit, it’s well decorated, it buzzes pleasantly but quietly. Birgit is an excellent host, she’ll check up on you regularly and even bring you a blanket or an extra table like your aunt might at Christmas.

I went in just because I saw the sky sports logo and had almost a surreal experience. My new favorite bar in Berlin....
