I usually enjoy my experiences here but I’m left completely baffled and disappointed today (and last week). I came here one week ago and ordered a Frappuccino only to be told it wasn’t available that day. I took the baristas word for it.
I returned again today after walking over an hour specifically in hopes of ordering the drink. When I ordered I was again told it wasn’t available (even though I saw a Frappuccino cup in the dishes pile).
I took the baristas word for it - and ordered a latte instead. When I got up to leave half an hour later and put my dishes away I saw another customer walking out with a Frappuccino. I asked him what he ordered and he confirmed that it was the frap.
I’m genuinely so disappointed that I was lied to at the till, instead of being told the truth. Saying a drink is “unavailable because you don’t have the ingredients” and then providing the same drink to another customer 45-minutes later is not cool. Especially after I’ve specifically come here multiple times to order that drink. It’s enough to make me never want to come back after being a customer for years. I would really appreciate an explanation on what occurred here, and for baristas to not skip out on making drinks without explaining what and why is...
Read moreSo I would like to share my experience at Bonanza coffee. I discovered this place recently, and it is definitely in a beautiful spot. I am a little bit special with coffee since I cannot have caffeine anymore (unfortunately) I am lactose intolerant, and also allergic to oats. This is the reason why I usually choose for “hispter” coffee places since they usually have more options. I arrive and I ask the guy attending if they have decaf. The answer is yes. I asked him if they have any type of vegetable milk, a part of oats or non-lactose., he replies yes but non-lactose milk is just used for a specific type of coffee. I asked him which type of coffee and he says iced cappuccino . I am extremely happy because that was exactly what I wanted to order so I asked him to prepare me an iced cappuccino decaf . He replies that decaf is not an option in that type of coffee. I then Ask him to prepare if it’s possible an Americano with ice decaf . He says that unfortunately, that’s also not possible . My next question is : then what can you do with a decaf here? He replies, that espresso, cappuccinos, or Americanos. I told him that I would like a regular cappuccino or a regular Americano , decaf, if it’s just a matter of putting it on ice. He said no...
Read moreSure the coffee is reasonable, a little on the small side, serving wise, but this seems to be a trend, flat whites are merely two or three sips of coffee.
The service at Bonanza is dreadful. I've been a handful of times now and every time get annoyed. Staff are either blind or simply do not acknowledge my presence, even when I am standing right in front of them.
Last week I had to interrupt a conversation between coffee server and coffee barista - I could clearly see they were engaged in a conversation, so I waited, 10 seconds, then 30 second, and then 60 seconds until I finally asked if I could place my order.
My request to order a coffee was met with, 'oh we were talking about coffee...' as if this was a justification to keep me waiting, when the entire place was empty.
Then it took 15 minutes for my coffee to arrive. What is wrong with simply acknowledging a customer when they enter your establishment? Sadly this type of 'too cool' service is another rising trend. I'm not an unreasonable person but this type of purposeful behaviour drives me up the wall. There are plenty of good coffee shops in Berlin, go there, and avoid Bonanza. Or better still, buy a home...
