This was recommended to me by a friend who used to live in Berlin. It's housed in an old former hospital and shares the space with an arts complex and cinema. The restaurant itself is rather grand with a high vaulted ceiling and nicely laid out. The tables are not too close together and it feels really spacious with just the right amount of sophistication. The waiting staff are attentive and were really helpful and happy to discuss the menu. My partner and myself had been recommended the schnitzel and both (perhaps rather boring of us!) ordered the Schnitzel vom Kraichgauer Landschwein mit lauwarmem Kartoffel-Gurken-Salat ind Preiselbeeren (Translation: Schnitzel of Kraichgau Landschwein with Lukewarm Potato Cucumber Salad and Cranberries). It was delicious. Nothing else needs to be said. If you like schnitzel, go here. The portion sizes were excellent value for money with two large escalopes on our plates with the veg complementing it marvellously. Great atmosphere, great food, we will definitely be going back next time we...
Read moreHad a great meal around 1pm on Saturday April 8th, 2018. The weather just turned warm and the servers were so nice about us wanting to move to a table outside. They were also friendly when a few more people added to our table after we had already ordered. I think I can honestly say these were some of the nicest waitresses in Berlin! On top of friendly and flexible service, the food was VERY nice. Most of us ordered breakfast platters which had quality items and pretty display. The building is also beautiful. Seating inside is elegant with high ceilings and stately arched windows (tho a tad loud due to echos). The tables outside were very simple, picnic-like with a big field where our 8, 11, and 12 year-olds ran around while we adults chatted about the art exhibit we just saw... very...
Read moreI tried to book an online reservation here but accidentally selected the wrong date, only realising my mistake fifteen minutes before we were supposedly due at the restaurant. Since we were close by, I called in and asked if they'd be able to accommodate us. Luckily, the server I spoke to was super helpful and did find us a lovely table, despite being busy and it being almost 9pm.
I'm so happy that they did because this was the most beautiful, atmospheric place, all four of us fell in love with it. Food was really good, especially the roast pork and buttermilk dumplings and we had a really good couple of bottle of red wine (the Nero d'Avolo was especially good) Our server was truly delightful and I hope that they go far in their career! They deserve it.
I would eat here every night...
