Café-Bar Himmelreich — Restaurant in Berlin

I recently had the pleasure of visiting this charming bar, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I stepped in, the ambiance was inviting, with a perfect blend of cozy warmth and vibrant energy. The highlight of my experience, however, was the impeccable service provided by the exceptionally friendly and attentive waiter, Ben. His warmth and professionalism truly elevated my evening.

The cocktail selection was impressive, with a delightful array of both classic and innovative concoctions to choose from. I highly recommend trying their espresso martini. It was an absolute delight for the taste buds! Not only were the drinks expertly crafted, but they were also reasonably priced, making the experience even more enjoyable.

Overall, my time at this bar was nothing short of fantastic, thanks in large part to the exceptional service provided by Ben. My friends and I decided to go to this bar to celebrate my friends birthday. As native English speakers and new to Berlin, the bar’s English and queer friendly website made Himmelreich and obviously choice but god were we wrong. The staff pleaded with us to get a photograph for their social media, when we politely declined, they insisted. This made our group very uncomfortable but was nothing compared to the sheer aggression from one of the staff members. This staff member in question, was rude to our group for the entire night. He even went as far to physically push one of our female friends. When we reported this incident to the staff behind the bar they apologised, however he followed us onto the street screaming abuse. This was truly a horrific experience. As someone who currently works in a bar, and has working in hospitality for 5+ years, I am always respectful to staff in bars. Disappointing & unfriendly. Last attempted stop on a weekend of hanging out in welcoming queer spaces. We were 4 visibly queer tourists - English-speaking but can just about manage with German, sober when we arrived, dressed in the usual attire for Berlin nightlife. Someone sitting drinking at the bar told us the place was full, but it didn't look overcrowded. When we tried to ask staff if we could sit at an empty table outside, they obviously heard, but completely blanked us. It was a shame to end a lovely weekend of feeling safe and welcome in Berlin's LGBTQI scene with this experience.
