Five stars for a few reasons: great location, at one of the entrances of the iconic Tempelhofer Feld; the coffee doesn’t disappoint, though my go-to is their delightfully dense matcha latte; weekly jazz bar in the basement, despite the acoustics of the space needing some work; tasty cakes and sandwiches to bring along for a day at the park, or when returning from the field with an appetite; queer friendly, relatively diverse (for Berlin).. cute and warm crowd. But y’all know the stars thing is both relative and subjective right? My feeling of five stars here can’t be compared to, say, giving the maximum Google Maps stars for a night at El Bulli or Noma, and they don’t even have as many stars as I would give for another meal with grandma.. but considering all that, I’m not one to feel like I’m not living a five star life when I don’t have those levels of experiences. In my day to day life, meeting a friend for a snack and beverage at Engels will always be linked to the profound joy of walking...

Particularly, the blonde girl with short hair…she was absolutely disrespectful and made us feel uncomfortable. Several times we kindly asked her to clean our table. She cleaned all the other tables and, looking at us with arrogance, purposely avoided ours.
We asked again, and she told us, “I’m coming,” but she continued to do other things and still didn’t clean our table. This happened at least four times until the food arrived. Eventually, another waitress served our food and cleaned the table.
Let’s also talk about the guy who takes the orders—he was very, very impolite. Nobody said hello or thank you. They must be very bitter or frustrated.
I think the owner of this place should replace the staff or address their behaviour, because this is absolutely...

I went today and ordered two dishes at the counter and asked kindly if the table outside could be cleaned since it was full of liquids and ashes. The blond waitress at the counter told me she would come in a bit. After a few minutes, she came outside and cleaned every table outside, even up to the table right next to us and purposefully ignored us with dishes and dirt left on our table. Even after asking her again two times she never cared to help us and only once the dishes were being served the other waitress kindly cleaned it for us. Extremely rude treatment that I don't really understand. I would suggest not acting out personal frustration on others.
Food is alright but pretty pricey for a self-service hipster café. Service quality is...
