Han West - Home of Dumplings — Restaurant in Berlin

Sad to say this place broke my heart. Dumplings are my FAVORITE thing in the whole world and the place near me closed permanently due to covid, and my other place is too far for delivery and it's too cold to eat them outside. So when I saw this on Lieferando, I was VERY excited.

First problem was the quantity. It was very confusing....it said 6 fried AND 6 steamed dumplings. We got two orders of dumplings and they were both shoved into one container, which was overstuffed and caused the dumplings sauce to break open, creating a mess. The actual dumplings didn't taste right at all. I was crushed! I couldn't even eat them.

Next was the dan dan noodles. The noodles were handmade, but not well. They were gummy, they were all clumped together...but nowhere in the description or product info mentioned there were peanuts, and sadly my husband is very allergic. Also...it says that there is pork? There was no pork, it was chicken. All in all we had to throw out the entire meal and heat up...

(Update 19.10: I am told this was a strange outlier experience and the management is already investigating and will improve the food experience moving forward. Extra star goes to Andy, management whom proactively reached out and strive for the best food experience for his customers.) The food was deceptively well presented. The insides to the dumplings were cold. Was clearly served undercooked frozen products. The bao bun were also part warm, part cold depending on where you bite, like under-microwaved product. The slaw on the side were also stale. The flavour and tastes were strangely similar when supposed to be different - even between vegi-vegan-pork options. The fries were the only thing that tasted normal. We felt pretty horrible, bloated, and thirsty afterwards. As a huge fan of dumplings. I have never eaten any dumpling so horrible my entire life - worst than any frozen product I've had at home. Extremely shocked by the high ratings. The one star goes to the nice service and...

This place is definitely overhyped and has made a steep decline in over the past year or so. As a local, I used to really enjoy this place. I don’t understand how this particular Han West gets such rave reviews. Regularly ordering in the hope that it got better (loyalty and whatnot), today was the last straw - I don’t often write reviews. Only if something is exceptional or terrible. They’ve consistently got the sauce wrong on dumplings and/or fries 80% of the time with in person takeaway orders and the reason I’ve decided to come on here today is not only was the wrong sauce doused on the dumplings, there was absolutely nothing on the fries (2 portions of each). Perfect example of overhyped gentrification with rise in pricing to boot. Avoid this place at all costs. Maybe the other branches are better. And please note, this service has been consistently awful irrespective of whether order has been made in...
