Let's get things straight: we are from Transylvania, Romania where the second most represented ethnical group (by population) is Hungarian. They have an extraordinary cuisine, from main courses to desserts, where, on the first place, is the Kürtőskalács (aka the "chimney cake"), which is, traditionally, twice the length and width (and taste) of those that we got (as seen in the picture), cheaper (topping a maximum of 5 euros in the Union Square of Cluj-Napoca, the most expensive city in Romania) and absolutely delicious.
When we first discovered the local, we were pretty excited to try it out. We ordered 2 chimney cakes for 6 euros each and also chose 2 cream chocolate additions. And then we were given for each mini-Kürtőskalács a minuscule portion of chocolate cream... for 2 euros. I admit that the chimney cake was good, delicious, quite a 4.5/5 in terms of taste and proximity to the original Kürtőskalács.
But the experience at CHIMNEYS was not that good since we were the last customers to receive our order in spite of the fact of being the first ones who ordered from the 3 couples that were present there at the time.
We will definitely try out other locals serving the Kürtőskalács until we will finally eat one resembling...
Read moreI never leave a review but this one deserves a comment. poor and slow service, they took 20 mins to prepare 1 cake even though we were the only ones there and it was Sunday very rude blonde waitress they brought me a cup of tea that had 1/3 water in it. I asked to add more water as the cup is 60% empty - she said in a very rude way it's water they give per portion. Then you should serve smaller cups as half empty cup looks and feels ridiculous! the place was full of bees, we went outside to drink tea when we were told that we cannot take a cup outside as it might get stolen 😂 I asked how I am supposed to stay inside when there are bees and they said we have many tables 😂 we took tiramisu cake and it had no flavour at all so we just removed ice cream and ate the cake only
In the photo is the amount of water they provide for tea Not client-oriented and super rude personnel. Tasteless food. Annoying techno music inside on Sunday at 1 pm. Not...
Read moreThe dough was awesome, best part about this dessert. The ice cream looks better than it tastes and overall it’s just too sweet for my liking but that’s my personal opinion and you can’t please every customer :) Why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was the service.. i was standing in front of the counter and the servers were just discussing something without even looking up to us or saying hi.. i said my order and it seemed like the server was putting it in the system but I was wrong. After a couple of minutes and me standing there wanting to pay, they asked what do I want to have.. I mean if you are new and need some guiding from the other employee, that’s completely okay but don’t just ignore the customer, it makes them...
