I’ve been to this restaurant a few times over the past two years and always enjoyed the food and the overall experience. In fact, I had previously given it a 5-star review. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was deeply disappointing and has left me questioning whether I would return.
I went with my girlfriend, expecting the same great experience I’ve had in the past. The food itself was as good as I remembered, but the service and treatment we received were shocking. Here’s what happened:
When the food was brought to our table, the dishes were placed in the center without any explanation. My girlfriend politely asked the waitress to confirm what one of the dishes was. Instead of answering the question directly, the waitress responded rudely, saying, "Did you forget what you ordered? You should know what you ordered. You get what you ordered." After we clarified the question again, she finally provided the name of the dish but in an unfriendly tone.
Later, when the main waiter came by to check if anything was missing, my girlfriend mentioned the waitress’s rude behavior. His response? "She is the boss, and I won't tell her what to do." This lack of accountability was frustrating, but nothing compared to what happened next.
After my girlfriend posted a 1-star Google review about her experience (while still sitting at our table), the male co-owner returned, loudly berating us in front of the entire restaurant. He essentially shouted, "If you post that review, eat up and get out. OUT. The waitress is not your slave." He then repeated that we needed to leave. My girlfriend stepped outside while I stayed to settle the bill. Even then, the waitress had the audacity to ask me if I had already paid, as if I were trying to leave without doing so.
I understand that running a restaurant can be stressful and challenging, especially when it comes to managing feedback, but this reaction was completely inappropriate and unprofessional.
While I’ve enjoyed this restaurant in the past, this experience has completely soured my opinion. I hope the owners take this feedback seriously and work on improving how they handle customer interactions. Until then, I cannot recommend this restaurant and will not...
Read moreRUDE. UNPROFESSIONAL. CALL THEIR GUESTS JERKS. The owners - the husband and the wife, were very rude. It all started from the first order of drinks and continued till payment. Just to new a few incidents, they had desserts with ice cream that didn't have "F" for milk allergy. We assumed that they have lactose-free ice cream, but decided to double check. The waitress, who was also the owner of the place, or at least there was only a husband and a wife, who were serving the guests, very rudely replied that of course, ice cream contains lactose! We tried not to pay attention to the multiple rude comments, the unfriendly expression on their face. However, when it was time to pay, the waiter/owner told us that one of us pays him, and then we divide the amount between us. When we told him that each couple will pay for themselves (6 people, so 3 payments), he didn't agree and said it was very complicated to him. His machine cannot accept such payments. In the end, having a long conversation, he agreed to accept our separate payments. All went on with more comments, as we stood their, waiting for our turn to pay. One of our friends told the waiter/owner that our experience was not the best, as during the whole period the waitress was quite arrogant to us. The waiter literally called one of our friends a jerk. DO NOT...
Read moreWe randomly found Chuan House while looking for a solid meal before a night out clubbing in Berlin, and it ended up being one of the best dinners of our trip. Our group of 12 showed up about an hour before closing, but the owner couldn’t have been more welcoming, and the chef still offered to whip up a special meal for us.
The vibes were awesome. The owner kept things fun with plenty of Tsingtaos and even surprised us with shots of Hibiki. The food came out fast and every dish hit the spot. Standouts were the crispy fried eggplant, the crispy pork, the mapo tofu, and the dim sum. If you like spice, you’re in for a treat. The chef brought serious heat with those classic Sichuan numbing flavors.
We had an amazing time eating, laughing, and hanging out, and it felt more like a private dinner party than a restaurant. For 12 people with tons of food and drinks, the bill was about 400 euros, which was an absolute steal.
If you’re in Berlin and want legit Sichuan food, good vibes, and a memorable meal, definitely check out...
