As an Indian who often craves authentic and tasty Vegetarian Indian food, Dosa King is a delightful find. Despite its name suggesting a focus on dosas, the PURELY VEGETARIAN restaurant(rare to find anywhere outside India) impressively offers a wide range of cuisines, including Chinese, Gujarati, Punjabi, and more. It’s a true culinary hub for anyone missing the flavors of India.

During our visit, we tried dishes from the Chinese, Punjabi, and Gujarati menus, and I must say, every dish was as flavorful and authentic as the food we enjoy back in India. The Chinese dishes had the perfect balance of spices, the Punjabi curries were rich and satisfying, and the Gujarati food captured the essence of homestyle cooking beautifully.

Among the drinks, we tried the mango lassi and nimbu soda. While the lassi was creamy and refreshing, the real star was the nimbu soda. It was so delicious and reminiscent of the goti soda from Gujarat that I couldn’t resist ordering it twice! The flavors hit all the right nostalgic notes, making it a must-try.

The real India as finally come to Berlin!

When I first fell in love with my wife, we traveled to and through India together, experiencing all of it's richness and beauty and flavors. We swung and danced on the dipping, fishing nets in Kerala, made love in a nearby tea grove, laughed through tears of joy eating the most fantastic dishes.

When Dosa King delivered our mealthe first time (as it has many times since), we were transported back to that time. Yes, now, instead of all that physical passion, we swing over to the couch and loosen our belts after the meal, but only to nap maybe, and we just make tea (to drink) instead of whoopi in the hedgerows of tea trees, but my wife's same tears of joy for these meals is just the same as I recall.

She's still the same red-headed beauty who drew out all the women in these small villages to admire her locks so long ago, but now she only has my attention. I don't have hers. She's completely transported by the Masala Dosas. Still, I can hear the trills of Lata Mangeshkar in my mind, providing the soundtrack to our love.

Dosa King is not for the lilly white palates of Berliners who have not traveled. They bring the heat, they keep it 100, and they do not apologies for bringing some spice to Steglitz!
