I used to come here every day! The coffee was consistent and delicious, prices reasonable, staff super friendly and the space cozy. However, in the last year or so it has really gone downhill. The pastries are much less tasty and are smaller, but wayyy more expensive. I miss the fluffy croissant/apricot filled croissant days. Now they’re hard and small. Go down the road and you can have a better croissant for a euro less. Beans are great, but the coffee made there is inconsistent. The other day, I decided to give the place another try and my flat white was barely warm. I should have said something, but I felt bad due to my next point: some of the staff are stressed and moody :( I’m not sure if a change in management or staffing has caused this but people there used to be really friendly and in good spirits…maybe I catch them on bad days now. It is not a huge problem, I get we all don’t want to be at work, but I miss having a hello with a morning coffee. For customers, it’s a joyous part of the day to have their morning coffee!
Another small note, is that indoor seating could be improved. The stools near the window have nearly killed me multiple times 😅 safer and sturdier chairs would be nice.
Anyways, this is such a lovely spot to sit and enjoy, especially in summer, but I hope the management takes notice of the ways in which the quality is slipping, especially as there is so much...
Read moreFive Elephant is one of probably the best coffee shops in Berlin, and for good reason. Their filter coffee is absolutely fantastic, with a depth of flavor and aroma that you don't find in many places. The baristas are incredibly skilled and always friendly, making the entire experience a pleasure.
One of the things I love about Five Elephant is the cosy atmosphere. It's the perfect place to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee, catch up with friends, or get some work done - in the back ofc :) . The decor is modern and inviting, with plenty of seating and natural light.
As someone who takes their coffee seriously, I appreciate that Five Elephant roasts their own beans. You can taste the care and attention that goes into every batch. And, their equipment is top-notch, including the Mahlkönig e80 with puq attachment (at least from the back they seem to be that 😊) and La Marzocco espresso machine, which are the goal standard for my future home barista life. 😁😅
Overall, I can't recommend Five Elephant enough. If you're a coffee lover, this is a must-visit spot in Berlin. The quality of their coffee and the warmth of their staff make it a truly...
Read moreThis café has it all! Beautiful location, funky interior, great atmosphere, nice staff. Their coffee is really something else and their cheesecake is without a doubt the best we ever tasted! We visited two years back and couldn’t get over that perfect cheesecake! We keep telling everyone about this place, even though we live in Sweden and Italy. But we wish everyone should have a chance to experience this … perfection at least once in their lifetime, haha! Two years later we again passed by Berlin, transiting between Sweden and Italy. We just HAD to make a stop at Five Elephant and hopefully re-experience that moment. And, incredibly enough, the cheesecake was even better this time! If you have the chance, for the love of coffee, don’t miss out on this opportunity! A big special thanks to Mr Omar, who made our visit there very special indeed. Five Elephant is...
