During our recent visit to Golden Phoenix, we encountered a mix of delight and disappointment. The tasting menu, a showcase of the chef's capabilities, had moments of culinary excellence interspersed with underwhelming dishes. This inconsistency in quality was particularly noticeable considering the high prices, which set an expectation for a uniformly high standard that was not met.
The highlight of our meal was certainly some of the dishes, which were exceptional in taste and presentation. However, this was contrasted by others that failed to impress, resulting in a dining experience that fluctuated dramatically in quality.
Adding to our concerns was the overall service. It became apparent throughout the evening that the restaurant was understaffed, leading to significant delays and oversights. The sound level in the restaurant was excessively loud, and at one point, we experienced a near hour-long wait between courses, eventually having to remind the staff about our order.
The staff, though friendly and courteous, seemed stretched thin, struggling to provide the attentive service one would expect at a restaurant of this caliber and price point. This lack of adequate staffing not only impacted the timeliness of the service but also detracted from the dining experience as a whole.
In conclusion, while there are glimpses of what Golden Phoenix could offer, the combination of inconsistent dishes, overpricing, and inadequate service due to understaffing makes it difficult to recommend. The restaurant has potential, but as it stands, it feels like a risky investment of both...
Read moreWe went there to celebrate a birthday and the food was simply delicious. I would have given a 5 Star BUT it wasnât perfect as one should expect from a restaurant like that one. We waited for about 15 minutes before a waiter came to our table and he didnât have the amount of menu cards for all of us because the restaurant was full; I am to the opinion, that the restaurant manager can produce some extra ones. We ordered a n espresso Martini which was the worst I have ever taken in Berlin. Much too much coffee and taste only coffee. The waiter knew it because we were not the only ones complaining about that. We tried another cocktails which were not much better. Maybe the barkeeper has a bad day or he should attend more classes. The service at the beginning was really not good but moved on to be good and the guy was really doing his best.
The food was fantastic, a real delight from the starters to the dessert. The meat was excellently cooked with the foie gras, the duck not greasy as duck tends to be and so tender, the truffle pasta was excellent.. well it was a delight and will definitely try the restaurant again but will go for a bottle of good wine instead of low...

We had dinner here. Staff was very nice. Interior is cozy and stylish, ambience a little too loud for intimate conversation.
The cocktails were superb and a refreshing surprise!
Unfortunately the food was sub-par. hence 3 stars.
Entrees: Devil Prawns - highlight of the evening, tempura was very tasty and crunchy. Very good taste and mouthfeel.
Spare ribs - unfortunately, the glazing was very burnt. This was a theme throughout: the chefs had an issue with caramalizing, every dish was dominated by the taste of burnt sugar.
Mains: Duck Leg - meat a little too dry, honey glazing tasted burnt and bitter, the plum sauce was very sweet. Overall, this dish misses taste and balance.
Salt & pepper chicken - way too dry!!
Dessert: Fried Banana - Too much batter, the caramelized nuts were super bitter (hi...
