One of the restaurant gems in the Halensee neighborhood. You might almost walk past Castello's unobtrusive entrance in the Joachim-Friedrich-Strasse but that would be a mistake. Castello is worth a visit. I've eaten here many times over the years and it never disappoints. The interior is low key because the food here is the star: Only the best ingredients carefully prepared and beautifully laid out on the plate. Castello is not your usual Berlin Italiener. The ever changing menu is small and everything - from appetizers through pasta and deserts - are home made with great care and professionalism. Portions are designed to allow a two to three course meal and special menus are frequently offered on the black board. Wine by the glass is good and reasonably priced. Ich habe Anfang Januar meinen 70. Geburtstag mit fast 30 Gästen im Il Castello gefeiert. Andrea und Maddalena haben in mehreren Treffen alles mit großer Geduld vorab besprochen, vom Sitzangebot über die Speisenfolge bei drei verschiedenen Menus bis zu den passenden Weinen. Das Mittagessen hat alle Gäste voll zufrieden gestellt. Die Antipastoplatten waren abwechslungsreich, frisch und einfach köstlich. Das Doradenfilet war genauso gelungen wie der Rinderschmorbraten ("Brasato di Manzo" aus der italienischen Heimat der Gastgeber). Hervorzuheben ist, dass der Service sehr aufmerksam und ganz unaufdringlich funktionierte. Für ein kleines Restaurant ist es erstaunlich, wie unaufgeregt und ganz reibungslos so eine große Gruppe bewirtet wurde. Sehr gut angekommen ist auch das Bemühen, Bioprodukte zu verwenden. Schließlich die Atmosphäre: einfach gemütlich, dezente Fotos von Straßenszenen aus Italien, bequeme Sitze an den Wänden, einfache Tische. Kaum Hall. Wir konnten uns problemlos unterhalten, ohne dass es laut wurde. Und zu allerletzt: die Wirte strahlen Herzlichkeit aus! Zum Wohlfühlen. Preis-Leistung...
