We were made to feel extremely unwelcome for no reason. My family and I made no complaint and gladly observed the no talking rule, but staff still treated us in a very rude unprofessional manner. The owner acted arrogant and hateful. My friends from Berlin who are musicians and jazz lovers have never recommended this place, now I see why. The other low reviews are harsh but I can't say they're inaccurate. I don't want to be mean and say this is the worst jazz club I've ever been to, but to tell the truth every other jazz club I've experienced has been a lot better, with much better music and kinder, more interesting people.
Ps. It's very stupid for anyone to assume this review was written on the exact same day my family and I came here. The snotty arrogant response from management just proves what other people and I've revealed: staff here are rude and unprofessional. Any decent venue would make some kind of public apology for such bad service, or at least have sense enough not to be snotty. It's a pity it doesn't even occur to management to show basic manners after they treat us patrons like garbage. I feel sorry for these unkind narrowminded people.
Pps. We did not make a reservation, management is lying or confused, maybe both. But thank you manager for insulting me because I didn't write my review in German for the sake of international visitors. Thank you for the snotty aggression about my English skills too, I worked hard to study abroad. If you wanted to prove how unwelcoming this place is and how unprofessional you are, you did a great job congratulations!
Also if you're looking for good coffee, try Silo! They're skilled and kind, when customers leave criticism they don't go crazy and resort to insults :) They remain polite and professional, they apologise for bad service when necessary and invite people to try coming back. You may...
Read moreCheck the website before you visit.(awesome jazz band list is waiting for you🤩) Reservation recommended (it’s a quite big place compared to other jazz bars. So you still might find bar seats even though you didn’t book the night, but nice places are usually occupied by customers with reservations. For most people, such as myself (who have a poor sense of direction), it may be difficult to find the entrance through google maps. If you are somehow entering a road between buildings, and you feel like “Am I going well...? “ . Then that’s right feeling. just walk one minute more ! ) Bring your student ID card , If you are a student you will receive up to 5 euros discount ! Nice snacks + reasonable prices for drinks 🍷 Friendly Staff Good Location : Under 5 min from U6 Naturkundemuseum
UPDATED: I guess truth hurts if you're a basic middle-aged Easy Listening enthusiast who resorts to knee-jerk nationalist defensiveness when faced with accurate descriptions about the quality (or lack thereof) of your cheesy whitewashed Mitte club. Btw I stopped by with a jazz aficionado friend from Tokyo, who couldn't help expressing how awfully bland your music & place were as well.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: I didn't actually hate this place, but it caters exclusively to middle-aged basics who only know & peddle an extremely whitewashed, watered down version of (lite) jazz. This is just easy listening for a bunch of boring bogarting bobos who'd likely call the cops on the real innovators & artists of jazz. Avoid this unbelievably overrated establishment if you know...
