Kramer Restaurant in Berlin is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking an unforgettable dining experience. Specializing in open-fire grilling, Kramer delivers a unique culinary journey that showcases bold flavors and innovative techniques. From the moment you step inside, the ambiance is enchanting. The dim, perfectly balanced lighting and carefully curated music create an inviting and magical atmosphere. The entire restaurant glows with the flames of the big central open fire. The service team is outstanding. They provide warm, attentive hospitality while expertly explaining the open-fire grilling concept and their curated menu. As a sommelier, I was thoroughly impressed by Kramer’s exceptional beverage offerings. Their creative cocktail and mocktail menu is a highlight, and the wine selection is meticulously chosen, featuring renowned labels from around the globe. The food is where Kramer truly shines! I started with wild right rock oysters and pink sea bream tiradito, both prepared with precision and bursting with freshness. My main course, a rack of glazed Iberico ribs cooked over the open fire, was tender, smoky, and mouthwatering. For dessert, I had surprising grilled habanero grapes—yes, grilled grapes! The combination of sweet and spicy flavors was a true revelation and the perfect finale to an extraordinary meal. Kramer Restaurant celebrates open-fire grilling and culinary artistry, delivering an explosion of flavors that redefine fine dining. If you’re in Berlin, this restaurant should be on your list. Congratulations to the entire Kramer team for creating such a standout dining experience. Your passion for food and hospitality is evident in every detail. Keep up the fantastic work!

Very good first time visit experience. Chic/cool ambience inside. Good place for date night. For starters, we had the crab ceviche which was… interesting. The citrusy sauce was good but the crab meat a bit chewy and did not retain much of the sweet crab taste, will pass it over the next time. But the chanterelle with fried egg was very good, unexpected flavors. The star of the meal was the fire grilled entrecôte, medium cooked. Perfect like a chef’s kiss. So juicy and tender. The whole roasted red pepper was sweet and contrasted well with the chimichurri sauce served with the meat. And along with the delicious soft warm Pan re Cuatro Queso, it was a meal my partner and I could not stop talking. The restaurant was kind to give us a complimentary beef tataki with marinated baby onions while we waited for the entrecôte to arrive, also very well made, and a wonderful primer to the good quality and cooking method at the restaurant. Together with a large beer and 2 mezcal cocktails, our bill was €145 for two. Well worth it. Con: what’s with the €5 per pitcher of tap water? Seems petty considering that clients are willing to spend good money on the food here. Perhaps make at least 1 pitcher complimentary?

We came here for dinner as a group of three and sat ordered the ribs, steak, pork belly, betel salad, asparagus, cheesy bread, and oysters. Surprisingly, the highlight of the evening wasn’t the meat, but the betel salad – beautifully presented, with fresh, vibrant flavors and a well-balanced composition. Overall I found the veggie dishes better than the meaty ones. The oysters were good, fairly average in quality. The ribs were coated in a great sauce, but the outside was unfortunately a bit dry. Same with the steak – tender and juicy inside, but slightly overdone on the outside. The pork belly was good, but overall, given the high prices, we expected a more refined execution. Service that evening was a bit of a letdown. The staff felt rushed and somewhat unfriendly, and we were forgotten multiple times. We found out that one team member had called in sick, but even under pressure, friendlier service should still be part of the experience at this price point. If I could give a decimal rating, it would be a 3.7 – a mixed experience with some real highlights, but also room for improvement.

Kramer in Berlin is an exceptional culinary destination that masterfully combines bold flavors with a unique dining experience. From the moment you step into this charming restaurant, the ambiance invites you to relax and enjoy a meal that promises both creativity and authenticity.

A standout on the menu is their Filipino-inspired "Kinilaw", a refreshing, vibrant dish that is a true testament to the kitchen's ability to meld traditional flavors with a contemporary twist. The fish is impeccably fresh, marinated in tangy vinegar and citrus, with just the right balance of heat and acidity. It's a dish that captures the essence of Filipino cuisine while adding an innovative edge that sets it apart from typical renditions.

Equally impressive are the "ribs", which arrive tender, juicy, and perfectly caramelized. The smokiness from the grill adds a depth of flavor that enhances every bite, and the accompanying sauces elevate the dish even further. The flavors are bold and satisfying, and you can taste the care that goes into every part of the cooking process.

The real magic at Kramer happens when you get a glimpse of their open grill. Every item that emerges from it is a testament to the restaurant's commitment to delivering mouthwatering, high-quality food. Whether it's perfectly grilled vegetables, succulent meats, or other specialties, everything comes out charred to perfection, with a smoky depth that elevates the natural flavors.

The service is attentive, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about the dishes they present, adding to the overall enjoyable atmosphere. Kramer is a place where creativity meets tradition, and the result is nothing short of extraordinary. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience innovative flavors in a cozy yet...

I had dinner at Kramer with my girlfriend on 20 June. Within an hour, she developed symptoms of food poisoning. I became violently ill later that night—vomiting, diarrhea, and two full days bedridden. The entire weekend, including my birthday, was ruined.

When we contacted the restaurant, their response was dismissive. They said, “these things can happen” when eating oysters, showed no real concern, and offered no indication that they were taking the issue seriously. I regularly eat oysters and have never had a reaction like this.

The only “compensation” offered was a bottle of sparkling wine—which was never delivered.

At this price point (€140 for two), you expect food safety, professionalism, and accountability. Unfortunately, none of that was present in our experience.

EDIT: While the public reply from the owner is polite and claims to take food safety seriously, it contrasts sharply with our actual experience. They offered a gesture of compensation—a bottle of sparkling wine—but it was never delivered. They also never responded to the detailed email I sent privately. It’s hard to reconcile the tone of this public message with the dismissive attitude we encountered on the phone and the complete lack of follow-through behind the scenes. It feels more like damage control than genuine...
