Monti — Restaurant in Berlin

Very incompetent staff. I go to the counter to pay the bill for 4 people, only to find out that they haven’t been able to keep track of our orders (4 drinks of which never arrived). I start counting the things we had. In the process, I’m talking to my other two friends about what they had since I wasn’t expecting to keep everything in memory in a coffee shop. Out of nowhere the person behind the counter repeatedly accuses me for being “angry” (for reasons that still are unknown to me) and adds “I don’t want angry customers here”. I had to say at least 5 times “I’m not angry”. Then he goes on by claiming that he told his colleague about the last 4 cups of tea and that the colleague messed up the order. We got this information at a point we weren’t even interested anymore in drinks. And now after several hours, I still don’t know what to do with this information.

Monti is pretty uncomfortable. The benches are lacking a back to hang something on (let alone leaning at it). I wasn’t able yo locate any coat rack. You’ll need to hug onto your heavy winter coat while having an okayish coffee.

Our waiter dropped one of the pastries we ordered off the plate on the table. Then he took it with his bare hands, put it back on the plate as if nothing had happened. This display leaves me concerned about the general hygiene situation back in the kitchen.

Coffee is mediocre, the menu lacks variation, cakes are dry. I don’t...

I was willing to pay 16€ for homemade ravioli but they were undercooked and not tasty. Unfriendly service as well.

update: I personally was there from 6pm-8pm (as were the children). It is true I mentioned that the ravioli were not good and they replied that they were stressed and also said something about the children and the noise. I would have decided not to leave a review if the reaction would have been better to be honest (and also not blaming the children). I understand that a bad review is annoying, but in the end if you sell the ravioli to me (it could have been an option just to say that you can’t) you have to assume that I will be reviewing the quality of the food. The quality was not good and that’s not my fault and no reason...

I used to visit this coffee/ bar often last summer. There was always friendly staff and the coffee and food was great. Since then there is a terribly unfriendly and unhelpful man who works often in the morning times who makes it hard to stay a coustomer there. I am a Mum with a 1 year old child and I’m also pregnant and I often get told that I have to come inside to order even if my child is asleep in the buggy outside. I was told there are no blankets available to me “this week” even though I have used blankets numerous times there before. There are other accounts of this worker being rude or unfriendly to me but all I can say is I think he is bad for business. I will not be going back...
