I have NO idea why this place is soo highly rated. In a word, it was edible but I will not go farther than that.
UPDATE: Edible was an overstatement. My stomach is destroyed today. Keep reading if you are curious why...
I got the dumpling soup, summer rolls, and some sushi. A bit of everything. And it was all pretty bad.
The soup was mostly tasteless and was more like dirty water with some vegetables and wontons...
The spring rolls were missing flavor and were completely bland. Usually they at least have some herbs to brighten the flavor but these did not have that fresh zing. The tofu inside was bland and lifeless. The peanut sauce was ehh at best... Again missing the depth and complexity that "decent" food has.
The first order of sushi arrived and it smelled pretty bad. A waft of "fish smell" arrived with the plate. Sushi should NOT smell fishy. With hopes I will not get food poisoning. I ordered the spicy tuna maki and salmon-skin maki. Both were... well edible but not good. I ate them but they were not worth the cheap price they cost. That was the only good part. The prices were budget friendly.
I was still hungry so I ordered the cooked salmon maki. It was also so-so. I got the cooked kind because in retrospect I probably should not have eaten the first plate that smelled "fishy." Sushi that smells like "fish" and not like the ocean, or nothing but "clean" is probably low quality, or worse is old. Non-fresh sushi is recipe for a belly ache. I suppose I get what I deserve for ordering this roll but I was hungry, tired and it was cold and rainy outside. I just wanted to eat and go home.
The service was pretty inattentive. I had to wave at the staff to get the few things I needed and to have them take my order. When it came time to pay they told me to go to the counter where I stood and waited but the other waitress had the machine at a table. Why did I have to get up to pay again? I sat back down and waited some more. After several minutes I had to again wave at the waiter that sat down instead of took my money so I could leave.
Will never go back here... I suggest you...
Read moreTerrible experience here, don’t be fooled by the positive reviews. Very rude staff, they forgot about our order despite being one of the only people in the restaurant, and laughed at us when they realised they had forgotten. The waitress who first sat us down and later took our order was very rude from the outset. After ordering our food, we waited one hour and watched other people who had just arrived receive their food straight away. The same waitress came and took away our cutlery, to which we asked for it back and she laughed at us. Another member of staff came over to ask us to pay (this was about 25 minutes before the place was due to close), we told her we were still waiting for food and she said that she knew that, but wanted us to pay if we weren’t going to order something else. We thought this was strange but agreed to pay. We then asked if there was an issue with our food, and she looked very confused. She called over the waitress who took our order, and she denied any knowledge of our order despite being one of the only people in the restaurant! They laughed at us and said they would make the food now. We were obviously very unhappy and asked for a refund, to which she said this wouldn’t be possible. We had to rush to eat the food after it came out in 2 minutes (sushi was terribly wrapped) and the service staff all sat on the table in front of us laughing until we left. Honestly such a terrible experience here, such a shame considering we were really looking forward...
Read moreLong story short: don’t order an Überraschung sushi menu ever, particularly at this place, while using DiscoEat. I felt that we were treated differently for our reservation through disco eats. We ordered the Überraschung sushi menu for 16€ per person, at which point the server asked us how much our discount percentage was. It was 30% and we didn’t understand why he asked that while we placed our order. It all made sense when our plate of food came. It was certainly a surprise when the food turned out to be less the amount than the other menus that cost the same price as well as the slightly cheaper ones. We were given 70% value of the normal Überraschung menu because we had a 30% coupon. I checked the menu and calculated, and while each dish included on our plate was equal to 16€ per person, that’s not the point of a sushi combo menu. All the other sushi menus cost less than its individual worth. It was disappointing, for everything else was great- the music, the vibe, and the servers were nice also. In asking for our disco eats discount percentage during ordering, I feel that this is a common practice and that while the server was nice, he was part of this discount discrimination. Don’t participate something like DiscoEat if you are going to be shady like...
