New Yorck Coffee — Restaurant in Berlin

Coffee is often problematic in Germany 🇩🇪 and I think it is because of a lack of coffee culture (the situation in Austria 🇦🇹 and Switzerland 🇨🇭 is marginally better).

Seeing this is a cafe that serves food as well as coffee I was hesitant to enter but I am glad I did.

The crew is English speaking and the slim guy prepared the best flat white I had anywhere this year (I visited a dozen countries so far in 2025). It was creamy and in a word perfect.

The pain au chocolat was another pleasant surprise - it was buttery and fluffy and the chocolate filling delicious.

I was so impressed that I decided to take a second round of the same.

This time the friendly Kurdish guy prepared the flat white and honestly it was a poor imitation of the flat white made by the first barista.

The score is :

1st flat white : 6/5

2nd flat white : 2.5/5

Pain au chocolat : 5/5

Service and ambience : 5/5

6 + 2.5 + 5 + 5 = 18.5/4 = 4.625 and that qualifies for a 5...

We found this coffee by accident and a friend recommended it to me. The atmosphere is really nice with the high ceiling and the moss it creates a very relaxing vibe. It is an allrounder cafe with all the benefits. The owner is talkative and very friendly if you want to talk, if not he will just serve some very delicious coffee. :) The food is fresh, organic (maybe not all) and perfect to fight a small hunger. All in all I can recommend this place to everyone who is interested in either work quietly, read a book, have a good chat with friends or just enjoy a good coffee while looking outside the window/moss. Price is okay for coffee, considering the freshness of the food I also can approve the price. Example: 1 Americano costs...

Finally got to visit this place, self service and card accepted for payments above 5euros

The place is self service however like a lot of cafes asked to be tipped which is always weird to me. Matcha tea was underwhelming due to lumps in my matcha tea latte (size wise was worthy of price), I also got their maple pecan plait which was delicious. Their egg drop sandwich is heavenly (brioche bun, egg, cheese and avocado) and a must try. Happy to see protein drinks as an option in the menu

We will gladly be back to try the others on their menu. Their menu and pastry options are very wide and interesting....
