Attention Google diners. Please do not rate if you a) order fries and beer, b) do not know how to cook for yourself or eat purely for sustenance rather than enjoyment. I was tricked into coming to this restaurant due to it's 4.6 / 5 rating, a rating that some 1-star Michelen restaurants don't get. Arrived at 17:50 for a 18:00 reservation, was told to wait outside until the restaurant officially opened (opening time 18:00). I could understand this if they were still setting up, but they were just chilling. Ordered a Maultaschen Suppe... did not come with a spoon... couldn't find our waiter until the soup was cold. Ordered the roast pork and duck. 1/2 Duck was ok, but a bit dried out which is amazing since duck is such a fatty meat and is hard to overcook. Pork roast was dried out and only edible with their excessively salted gravy. This is not a case of "this person doesn't like German food". I love German food, especially Maultaschen, Duck and Roasts. I'm just never going to eat it at this restaurant and neither should you. The only plus was that all the food seemed to...
Read moreMe and my girlfriend chose to come here from friend recommendation - nontheless we had a 30 min. delay due to our work, called in as we were already late - had Sören on the phone, who made sure we would get our table. As I arrived first by myself, I was treated to a warm smile and funny jokes about my girlfriends delay. When she arrived they even made more jokes and it was such a welcoming and warm surprise that you can't help but be in a good mood (we sure both were!). Following that we received excellent recommendation on not only the wine/drinks but also the food, which was heavenly and we had an amazing time! Christina is an excellent waitress who had us laughing and giggling all the way with her comments and recommendations. Sören and the staff was truly amazing and we had an amazing evening. Recommend 150%, for date, dinners etc. We will...
Read moreWe'd been eating rather fancy/gourmet the previous few days, and really wanted some "proper" German food, without feeling like a total tourist. And we got what we wanted here!
We sat outside with a perfect street view for people watching. The staff were friendly and efficient. The food was great. I had a pork roast in black beer sauce with bread dumplings and white cabbage salad. It was very tasty - a testament to the chef that I could enjoy such a dense meal in 30 degree heat! The bread dumplings were a bit dry but I'll let that pass, seeing as I left so happy.
Unpretentious but still done with care. Priced accordingly.
(I also recommend to the winebar/store across the road -Dreiviertel Weine - for a...
