As a born/raised Korean, this is THE Korean restaurant I always recommend to EVERYONE, especially my foreign friends, who are looking for an authentic Korean restaurant. The taste is very authentic for sure. Yet, the most admirable thing about this restaurant is that the owner really takes care of her food, making sure all ingredients are fresh (not to mention, high level of food hygiene). I've ordered Korean food from her via Instagram even before she opened this restaurant. Yes, some people say her food/side dish she sold before she opened her restaurant were expensive, HOWEVER, the taste and ingredient say all. So I have been always satisfied. I think it's totally worth the price. I think often times K-food can be very 'un'healthy with too much salt and sugar etc, but her food is fresh, simple, and healthy. Hence, please visit this place and explore real Korean food world :) in Berlin! You won't regret it.
You can check her insta for more info. Sometime she prepared special seasonal menu and you need to book it since ingredients are rare or limited (I heard that she sometimes get them all the way from Korea or nearby EU countries). Now it's over, but I just LOVED LOVED my soybean noodle, which is SO RARE to get here or in any Korean restaurant and it was just REAL! (Even better than common ones in Korea). Full of pure soy-bean protein! :D (especially if you workout, you know what I mean lol)
By the way, I am just her customer and not related to her business in any...
Read moreI've been here with a friend a few days ago, the food was delicious even for my non-used-to-spiciness mediterranean palate. If you want a true delve into korean kitchen this is a must go.
The atmosphere, the food and the service were a 5/5. The staff took the time to explain us the menu, dispense recommendations and check on us (me cough cough) when I seemed to be struggling with the chili side effects, coming to my rescue with a glass of water. Very appreciated! Thank you for being patient and friendly trough the whole dinner!
The selection of banchan (side dishes) was wide and tasty, not just the 3-usual-things, and after serving it we were explained what everything was, which was a lovely and caring extra touch. As mains we had gamjatang (pork bone soup), delicious and a bit spicy (there's a lot of pepper!), and gwi-jjim (monkfish stew), also delicious and super spicy. I had a glass of Makgeolli (korean wine), so nice and very recommended if you're not that tolerant to spiciness, it really helps tons with it! My friend had a Pflaumen Ade, which I'd describe as a sort of fruit punch/lemonade, also tasty. The food servings were abundant, and the pricing also quite fair, not at all high considering the ingredients quality and variety, and the general incredible attention to details!
Overall I loved the experience and I highly recommend it! I'll...
Read moreI was introduced to Korean food by my Korean partner - we relocated from Australia to Sweden 3 months ago and were disappointed with most Asian food here, little did we know that the greatest Korean food outside of Korea is in Berlin - we found this on a list and had to visit when we took a four day trip last week. For starters, we slipped through some changes to the booking system and made a lunch booking that they no longer offered - instead of cancelling on us, they opened the restaurant just for the two of us. We had ‘Pork Bone Soup’ and ‘Beef Bibimbap’ (my translations) - the Bibimbap was the most beautiful salad I’d ever seen in my life and it tasted fantastic. The Pork Bone Soup looked Korean, by that, I mean it looked real and as if I’d just sat down somewhere in Korea - I couldn’t get enough of the broth. We were also served with a range of kimchis. The owner cares for her food and her service and she straightens your tableware like she is your mother making a fuss over things being perfect. We also purchased takeaway tubs of the kimchi. This was special for us, it was just what we needed - it couldn’t have been better. I hope for everyone to try PUM and become acquainted with one of the most interesting cuisines...
