I feel compelled to leave a review because given all the things that have already been posted here so far, and the wide range of opinions on display, we went to eat there with a slight case of cold feet.
Well, simply put, we really liked the schnitzel, which is great because that's what we came for. We both ate the "regular" veal schnitzel, not knowing what to expect from the viennese-style one made out of pork, so I can't say anything about this one.
The veal schnitzel is crisp with a very tender and slim meat. I wonder what people calling it "chewy" or "dry" were served. Maybe a bad night for the cook? It was not our experience. It was delicious and huge, yes, I was about to forget, it's pretty much one a half schnitzel. If you want to taste something different, I think it's OK to just order one schitzel and take another dish that you can share for an expanded experience.
As for the cons, in rapid fire: the Spritz was a bit bland (too much water is my guess), you have to pay for the sides (cucumber salad for my wife and roast potatoes for me, both good but a bit expensive at around €5 a pop, and you also pay €1.50 for the jam to go with the meat).
With that said, the place is quite cozy and classy, the service was alright, maybe not the warmest but I believe it's the Berlin way.
To sum up, I would recommend if you have a few euros to spare (around 35€ per person). 4 stars, I'll probably come again if I'm...
Read moreThe food was good but the service was worse than McDonald's. We've called the place asking for a table within the next hour, went there and got seated immediately. Once seated it took 5 minutes for the waitress to get our order in a very, let's call it efficient way: Neither friendly nor helpful with regards to the beverages. My wife asked for a wine recommendation and she recommended one saying "xyz is the cheapest". We're both mid management and look accordingly, so there was really no reason for such a comment. After placing the order we've gotten the beverages, bread and the dishes in a quick succession within 5 to 10 minutes. The bread was put on our table without even saying a word. We didn't even notice when it was put there. Other tables even got their dishes before their drinks which made me wonder. After we've finished the dishes, we were sitting there without any interaction with a waiter for 10 minutes, despite me having an empty glass for about half way through my dish. So I've called a waiter to get the bill, which didn't come for another 15 minutes despite the fact that the restaurant was already 2/3 empty, so we stood up and went to the counter, where the waiter I've asked for the bill was standing behind, talking to colleagues. When she saw me, she told me that she was busy so she forgot...

Now, let's talk about the stars of the show – the Wiener Schnitzel and Kaiserschmarrn. The Wiener Schnitzel was a masterpiece of golden, crispy perfection, tender inside, and bursting with flavor. It's undoubtedly one of the best I've ever had outside of Austria. And the Kaiserschmarrn? It was heavenly! The fluffy, caramelized pancake pieces topped with powdered sugar and plum compote were simply divine.
To complement the meal, their wine selection is exceptional, and the staff's recommendations were spot on.
Jolesch Cafe Restaurant offers an authentic taste of Austria right here in Berlin. Whether you're a connoisseur of Wiener Schnitzel or have a sweet tooth craving for Kaiserschmarrn, this place is a must-visit. I can't wait to return for more of these culinary delights and the warm, welcoming atmosphere.
