This restaurant literally destroyed the impression of a german restaurant. I write my experience here not only to complain, but also to ask if I am just an ignorant person or was mistreated? At our arrival, the waitress was a little bit impatient, she saw us coming in with a bottle of water and then told us that it is forbidden to drink our own drinks in the restaurant. We can understand that, it is normal I think, therefore we put the water in our bags. After that, we started to see the menu, during that time, another group of guests were coming and sitting next to us. The space between us is enough to walk through, but my father who sat outside was pushed a little bit hard by the same waitress without informed firstly. We bore with that because maybe my father might not hear from her warnings. The most unacceptable thing is that she forbade us to order three main dishes. We are four adults and one child, one adult and the child from us were just through 12 hours flying and arriving Germany who are not very hungry and still had jet lag. But they wanted to try the local food and we chose this “gut” restaurant. We thought it should be OK to share the food, until we were told by the same waitress that the rules in this restaurant is forbidden us to share food, if we order three dishes, only three people can eat, the other two are forbidden to eat. And we had to follow this rule, otherwise we need to leave. ????????????????? Really??????? It is usual in a German restaurant? We of course left the restaurant, and the guests next to us also think this is unreasonable. It feels shame to invite the family who are first time in Germany to experience the first meal like this. It is really normal? Forbidden...
Read moreVery unpleasent experience. My husband and I came to Germany for a few days, and wanted to experience the traditional German cuisine, so we stopped by. We weren't too hungry, but were up for tasting some German food, but the experience was not pleasent at all. At first when asked what to drink, we just wanted a glass of water or maybe even a pitcher, but they said they can only bring us bottled water, for extra money. We kindly said that we preferred nothing to drink (as we were there mostly for the food) The waitress didn't seem to accept that we didn't want anything to drink and kept pressuring us and standing over our table. We had to tell her several times we didn't want to drink. Since not too hungry, and knowing that portions were very large from reading other reviews, we decided on one main dish and one soup. As soon as we ordered just the soup and main dish, the waitress made it very clear that there is absolutely NO sharing (!!!) the dishes, and we there exactly for that, to share. After ordering, another waitress was sent to us, to convince us to buy a drink, saying that they don't give a table for a cheap meal. So we gave into buying beer although we didn't want to. When the food arrived we wanted to share, but they took away one set of silverware to prevent us from sharing (since one of us had soup). We decided to do our best, swapping plates, using the spoon for eating potatoes, and other methods, but felt very uneasy sharing, and felt like elementary school kids under supervision. We couldn't enjoy the meal from being uneasy about sharing. The portions were okay, and the food was nice, but not anything special. To sum up the experience, we felt very pressured and...
Read moreThis place is not 5 star in its original sense. But trust me...you will not leave dissapointed. The best way to explain would be much easier to understand for those that come from behind the iron-curtain. We used to have these hidden gem, home-style cooking, perfect little restaurants that worked with just so many regular and accesible ingredients and had little to show when it came to the interior but great tasting food made up for it. This is a perfect example. When you walk through the neighborhood you will see fancier and maybe nicer places but as soon as you bite into their first appetizers either one of the smoked fishes for example, you just know you have arrived and at a true restaurant really nothing else matters but the food. ( Dont get me wrong the service was also kind) From the dumpling to the goose tighs or the chicken liver everything tastes delicious. Everything is fresh and have just a little extra something that makes it extraordinary. If you want to hold you forky with your pinky standing outand look at the decor instead of the food maybe this is not your place. If you want to take your friends family or just that special someone and have a great great tasting meal and be worry free, this is the...
