If you're looking for a unique brunch experience in town, Rocket + Basil should be at the top of your list. Inspired by Persian cuisine, this cozy café offers delicious, high-quality, and fresh dishes that are rich in flavor.
The atmosphere is inviting and lively, with friendly and efficient staff who are always happy to assist. The café can get quite busy, so be prepared to wait for a table. While you wait, you can sit outside and enjoy a drink, which is a nice touch. Once inside, the space is a bit cramped, but the light colored interior make up for it. The café also offers a nice selection of beverages, including coffee, tea, and their cardamom hot chocolate, which is definitely worth trying.
We tried the Tahini Halva Brownie and the Toasted Cheese Sandwich, seasonal salad. Both were excellent—rich, flavorful, and satisfying. The food is fresh, vibrant, and beautifully presented, with the café offering a nice selection of vegan options.
However, there is one small downside: the large pile of rucola on top of the sandwich was a bit too much for my taste. It overshadowed the rest of the dish, but that’s just a minor issue in an otherwise fantastic meal.
Overall, Rocket + Basil offers a memorable experience with delicious and creative food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend it for anyone craving a fresh, high-quality brunch with nice vegetarian and...
Read moreI wish Rocket and Basil was my local and I can't wait to return on my next trip to Berlin. My only regret is that I couldn't order the whole menu! Luckily we were in a large group so I managed to try as much as possible. The smoked aubergine omelette was delicious and served with incredibly good quality back bacon. I had to get the sausage roll on the side as I'd heard such good things and it was THE BEST I've ever eaten - moist, impeccably spiced and encased in perfect pastry. I also sampled the bacon roll, club sandwich and the vegan cauliflower flatbread all of which were generously portioned, tasty, flavourful, inventive dishes. I've seen a few reviews mention that things are on the pricey side but I think the setting, quality of the produce and the expertise in the kitchen are well worth paying for. The Persian Bloody Mary is genius, the coffee delicious and the wine list extensive and interesting. The owners, Sophie and Xenia, bring their heritage and supreme hosting skills in every element of Rocket and Basil - and you won't want to leave. Their staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. I can't...
Read moreRocket & Basil’s sandwiches aren’t just food—they’re experiences. The chicken schnitzel? A crispy, golden-fried masterpiece! The ham and cheese? Not just ham and cheese—it’s like they whispered poetry to it before serving. And the "not your nonna"? Bro, that tastes like childhood happiness if your childhood was catered by a Michelin-starred grandma.
Every bite is a perfect balance— mostly classic flavors with just the right amount of modern swagger. Like if your grandma went to culinary school in Copenhagen and started experimenting with "just a little something different, sweetheart."
I should probably be worried about my level of dependence. I’ve started scheduling my week around these sandwiches like they’re doctor’s appointments. My friends are concerned. My bank account is exhausted. But my soul? My soul is thriving.
Rocket + Basil, I don’t know what you’re putting in these sandwiches, but I’ll see you tomorrow.
And probably the day...
