Alte Turnhalle — Restaurant in Berlin

Great buffet brunch place! Recommended for any group size, from couples to big families.

Food: very tasty and in my opinion high in quality. There is something for everyone, ranging from salads, dips, fresh bread, spreads, smoked whole salmon, breakfast meats, eggs, cheeses, to full dishes like chili sin carne, spätzle with mushrooms, different meats with sauces, etc. For a sweet ending there is a dessert station with cakes, cookies, etc. Our compliments to the kitchen! The only letdown for us was the “waffle station” that was so highly praised in the reviews, as the waffle pieces were very small and already prepped.

Price: we paid 70€ for two persons with 4 coffees and a large water bottle. Regarding the quality of the food the price is understandable.

Service: we were on the balcony inside the hall and had a great waiter. Very friendly and attentive, we never had to wait long for anything. The food never ran out at the buffet either.

Ambience: it is quite loud and we found the music that was being played highly unnecessary, because we could only hear the bass sounds if anything. You can expect it to be very full, since this is a popular place. The women’s toilets were surprisingly clean for the amount of people that were passing...

Lovely biergarten with pretty nice food and a good selection of drinks. The only problem we had was that they were overrun as it was not long after lockdown restrictions ended so the kitchen & staff couldn't keep up. We waited around 45 mins for our meals and spent ages waiting to flag down waiters for a next round of drinks. They were not so forthcoming with checking if we wanted more drinks when we clearly all had empty glasses and the waiters didn't seem busy at that moment. At one point I tried to order another round and was told no I had to wait because the bar was overrun with orders. They were totally out of desserts fairly early too unfortunately so will have to return maybe on a quieter evening. Overall pretty nice experience, but would benefit from more proactive waiters and having extra staff on a Saturday evening after the restrictions had loosened up more to deal with the influx...

Wir haben gestern das große Sommerfest der Integrationsbeauftragten in der Turnhalle mit rund 150 Gästen gefeiert. Vom ersten Tag an, als Kira, die Eventmanagerin, mit uns die Organisation vor besprach, wussten wir, dass unser Fest gelingen würde. Um es kurz zu machen: hier stimmt einfach alles! Die Vergabe und die Organisationsgespräche sind hervorragend vorbereitet, geantwortet wird auf alle Fragen umgehend und professionell, viele Sonderwünsche werden berücksichtigt, Änderungen beim Menü kurzfristig eingearbeitet. Man hat die ganze Zeit eine Ansprechperson und es herrscht komplette Transparenz bezüglich aller Kosten. Beim Fest selbst stellte man sich in der Alten Turnhalle flexibel auf alle Wünsche ein, kurzfristig wurden Dreharbeiten des ZDF ermöglicht, alles war so, wie es verabredet worden war. Dass der formelle Teil des Abends 30 Minuten früher endete als geplant und die Gäste anschließend essen wollten, forderte die Küchencrew wirklich heraus! Wie sie es trotzdem geschafft hat, innerhalb einer Viertelstunde alle Speisen auf den Punkt zuzubereiten und schön anzurichten, wird wohl ihr Geheimnis bleiben. 🙃 Das war eine große Leistung vom stellv. Küchenchef und seinen Leuten. Auch bei dieser von uns verursachten Herausforderung blieben die Organisatorin und die Servicekräfte cool und professionell und niemand ließ sich den enormen Stress anmerken, der entstand. Die jungen Servicekräfte an der Bar und im Saal machten einen sehr guten Job. Sie waren flink, freundlich, sehr leise, als sie von 150 Leuten die Bestellungen aufnahmen, während das Programm lief, und erfüllten jeden Wunsch sehr schnell. Das vegane und vegetarische Essen war appetitlich, sehr lecker, reichlich und originell. Die Technik funktionierte perfekt und alle Gäste fühlten sich willkommen und wohl und trotz der Größe der Halle gelang es dem Team der Turnhalle, eine entspannte und sichere Atmosphäre zu schaffen, was für unsere Gäste wichtig ist. Dass wir außer dem Saal einen separaten großen Teil des Sommergartens nutzen konnten, war besonders schön. Ein großes DANKE an alle von der Alten Turnhalle, die daran beteiligt waren, unser Fest zu einem Erfolg zu machen. Wir haben ausschließlich positives Feedback von unseren Gästen bekommen.
