Quintessence:
The food was very delicious, well seasoned and the portions were big. The only negative aspect is that we only got one side dish (Kimchi) accompanying our main course. Our waiters were very friendly and polite.
In detail:
My friend and I went to Wawa Berlin on a Friday evening at around 6:30 pm. We had no reservation, but we still got a table that we had to share with other guests that came in later (which was totally fine with me).
We ordered a ginger tea, a cold barley tea, the So Bulgogi (beef) and the Daeji Bulgogi (pork). Our dishes were accompanied by purple short-grain rice (the colour comes from mixing the white rice with black glutinous rice), Kimchi, lettuce leaves and Ssamjang (Korean dipping sauce). Moreover we got a wet towel so we could clean up our hands.
Instead of cooking the meat at the table, it was already cooked and served in a big bowl. It was very well seasoned and at the same time it was juicy and tender.
The only thing that I would criticise is that we unfortunately only got Kimchi as a side dish. I am actually used to getting quite a few side dishes (e.g. marinated cucumbers, mung bean sprouts, eggplants, tofu, spinach, etc.) with a main course in Korean restaurants.
Otherwise I enjoyed my visit at Wawa Berlin very much. I was very much satisfied with our food. I liked that they had flat metal chopsticks. The restaurant had a cozy atmosphere and our waiters were very...
Read moreyou ever just go for a long walk to get lost in a city while looking for a place but you aren’t sure what you are craving until you see it? well it was one of those days. WaWa is a cute family owned Korean restaurant that with food and service transports you to Korean. wow - it’s the best word to use to describe my experience - it’s the first word that truly comes to mind after devouring the spicy pork bulgogi - this dish was exactly what I need and I didn’t know it. Our waiter - M (sorry I don’t know the spelling and refuse to get it wrong) - was so extremely nice and attentive. The Cass Korean Beer was a perfect combination for my food and my partners - hot bulgogi tang (soup). We also tried the Hotok - sweet Korean pancake filled with cinnamon, honey & roasted nuts, with vanilla ice cream on the side. talk about divine and the cherry on top of our meal. from the moment we stepped inside it truly felt like a family experience. Like I was sitting in my grandparents kitchen being feed all the goodies and shown how to eat it correctly. for me as a Latino - this feels like home. Food is family is love. WaWa has that spirit and love. Give them a try! Worth every single penny. They could take all my money and feed me for life. Thank you WaWa! I will be back soon.

Read moreWawa is one of those unassuming gems you can find by word of mouth, or by serendipity. everything served there is a small celebration in the mouth.
Don't be turned off by its lack of interior design, or its very small menu (4 starters, 3 kinds of mains with different compositions, and two deserts), to me it's a sign of confidence in the strength of their food.
The three mains are bibimbap, bulgogi, and soup, and each one with it's own different variations and permutations will compete in your memory for the best dish you've eaten there.
I was told about this place a few years ago by a friend, who's since left Berlin, and while she's now living her dream surrounded by mountains and nature, she says this place is one of the things she really misses.
While being unassuming, the same can not be said for the prices, which are a bit on the high side for Berlin. Most dishes will set you back 16-17 Euros, and even a bit more if you'd like to add some additional topping, but the serving size is very big, and everything is so tasty, so I think the value for money is very much there.
Highly recommended for what I'm told is an authentic Korean experience (but please don't trust me on that, I wouldn't really know what one is). A must...
