This evening's dinner was at a very special location. "Our Home", that's the translation from the Kurdish bona'me, a traditional but top modern dining concept by the Rhine river in Cologne. I got curious when I bumped into this location on Google Maps and wanted to explore it with my bare eyes and my taste buds. The concept is outstanding, you get your order card at the entrance and then you order your food and your drinks at one of the many touchscreen terminals. The buzzer informs you when your order is ready. At the exit you pay your bill that accumulated during your stay. Now the food and the taste: The dishes are mainly pearls from the traditional Anatolian cuisine but made with a sprinkle of innovation. Who would have thought that Manti goes with sucuk? Or Beyti kebab formed like a tower with a delicious yoghurt dip and tomato sauce. Even the drinks are special, like the Mem Ù Zin, a drink that unleashes a tornado of flavours when taking a sip. I had the absolute pleasure of visiting “bona’me Köln-Rheinauhafen” just a couple of days ago, and it was a truly delightful experience. From start to finish, every aspect of my visit was exceptional.

First and foremost, the beverages were simply outstanding. The çay (tea) mocha, and white wine were all served to perfection. The flavors were rich and inviting, and it was evident that great care went into preparing each drink.

A sophisticated version of the turkish specialities you can find around Germany.

They have a great menu of traditional turkish dishes that are very well presented. The classics Köfte and Lamb meat variations, bulgur, joghurt sause and tea specielities.

There is a big terrace outside, and a playground right next to it, that is very convenient if you go with kids.

When you get there, you go to the counter where you get a magnetic card, and then you go to the serving spaces and they charge the meals on the card, when you are done you goto the counter and pay forthe fee that is in the card.

They also serve breakfast and turkisch sweets, at midday you get sunshine on the terrace.

I'm actually keen to go back there and try...
