This evening's dinner was at a very special location. "Our Home", that's the translation from the Kurdish bona'me, a traditional but top modern dining concept by the Rhine river in Cologne. I got curious when I bumped into this location on Google Maps and wanted to explore it with my bare eyes and my taste buds. The concept is outstanding, you get your order card at the entrance and then you order your food and your drinks at one of the many touchscreen terminals. The buzzer informs you when your order is ready. At the exit you pay your bill that accumulated during your stay. Now the food and the taste: The dishes are mainly pearls from the traditional Anatolian cuisine but made with a sprinkle of innovation. Who would have thought that Manti goes with sucuk? Or Beyti kebab formed like a tower with a delicious yoghurt dip and tomato sauce. Even the drinks are special, like the Mem Ù Zin, a drink that unleashes a tornado of flavours when taking a sip. I had the absolute pleasure of visiting “bona’me Köln-Rheinauhafen” just a couple of days ago, and it was a truly delightful experience. From start to finish, every aspect of my visit was exceptional.

Last Friday my friends and I visited bona'me in Köln. The place was semi busy, we found nice seats outside. The area outside has good amount of tables with large umbrellas, there are cushions on the benches for more comfort. Inside the restaurant were many unoccupied tables. There were plenty of waitresses but because you order at the self service till and you have to pick up your food when it's ready, their job was to clean the tables and occasionally bring additional orders, overall helpful.
