Café Goldzeit - Hausgemachte Kuchen / Kaffee / Frühstück — Restaurant in Cologne

What a treasure of a cafe. Very nicely decorated, sort of Scandinavian feel with a very cosy atmosphere. Really good coffee (flat whites are nice and strong), freshly prepared food which is delicious and presented beautifully, plus it’s different from what other cafés offer, which is a welcome change. Close to Ebertplatz but in a quieter side street which is more relaxing. Highly recommended.

Update from 31.10.23 I love the flat white coffee at Goldzeit, but today I tried two different teas, both of which were delicious. Usually I avoid ordering tea at cafes as it’s a standard bag in a cup type situation, nothing special, but the teas here are chosen with care and include unusual blends which are beautifully balanced and flavoursome, none of the unpleasant fake aroma flavour at all. I tried Glückstee Goji-Cranberry which I could happily drink all day, and Dattelzauber which was gently sweet and fragrant - both worth trying. We were there just before opening hours and logically we were told to wait. We were not in a hurry. So we expected to be told when staff was ready to take our order. After 10 minutes a new group of 3 entered, sat down, walked to the counter and started to order. After that we also walked to the counter and placed our order for food and drinks. As for the other group and walk-ins food had to be taken or prepared we had to wait more than one hour for our food to arrive. Our coffee came a bit earlier. As we were quite hungry we ordered some cake to share. Customers that came in later, to our surpise, the waiter walked up to their table to take their order. Beautiful little cafe with outdoor seating underneath shade from trees! It’s a small operation with a few employees, but they push orders out quickly - I ordered the #4 frühstückszeit and my friend ordered the #1 frühstückszeit, both of which had many different flavors from the various ingredients provided. The dishes were beautifully plated and make a great brunch!
