Fort X is a historic Prussian brick fortress built in the 1800's. Access to the Fort is free, however finding parking may be difficult. You can walk around the different levels and layers of the fort, as well as view the rose gardens on the upper level.

Dieses preussische Fort hat das X nicht als Unbekannte im Namen, sondern als Nummer 10 - passend zur Rückennummer von Lukas Podolski. Es ist ein wunderbarer Ort, der zeigt, wie die Umnutzung von militärischen Einrichtungen für zivile Nachnutzung funktionieren kann. Dieses recht versteckte Fort des preussischen Festungsrings wurde mit einem tollem Rosengarten auf dem Dach und schönen Spielplätzen zwischen den Festungsbauten zu einem Platz, den man wunderbar für die Entspannung nutzen kann. Da es jedoch so versteckt liegt, ist es selbst für Kölner noch ein echter Geheimtipp.

Lovely gardens and a quiet spot for relaxation and yoga. Although I'm not sure what's inside the fort or whether it's possible to enter, but the outside was so serene and had a few spectacular photo spots. I'd definitely recommend visiting it on a sunny day for the best photograph experience. Expect to spend 15-30 minutes here as I don't see much to do or much distance to walk, but I'd recommend visiting if...

Historic site. Was part of the defenses of Cologne. You can visit it on the so called "Tag des Denkmals" They offer guided tours on that occasion where they explain the purpose of the Fort and its layout. Things like this just seem so "ho, hum" in Germany. There's so much history! This is a fort built in the mid 1800's. There's a rose garden ON TOP!!
