Curios Bistro & Cafe — Restaurant in Cologne

I am well and truly shocked that this restaurant has such a low rating. Let me tell you something: I am half Italian (my mother is), I was born in Rome and lived there for eight years. I know what authentic Italian cuisine is and how it tastes like. I have lived in countless countries and eaten at countless "Italian" restaurants. Invariably, they adapted their cooking to local tastes and could not be called Italian anymore.

Gianni is the first restaurant I know not to have done it. When you eat here, the food tastes like the one you eat in Italy. There is no better Italian restaurant in the whole of Cologne.

The only thing you could realistically have against this restaurant is how limited the seating is. The "local guide" who gave it three stars because "flies came in" should consider stopping...

Absolutely amazing place!!! Undisputed number one cafe/bistro in Cologne!! It has everything what you can wish for. Delicious food that changes every day so you can never get bored(soups, main courses and 100% homemade cakes). Affordable prices for super quality dishes. Lunch menu from Monday till Friday is unique...7.80€ for 2 courses...no other place can beat that. Perfect place to chill on weekends with a coffee and the best cake in the city or ....something a bit stronger:) What makes it special is the atmosphere and super friendly staff that will make you feel welcome. It's a must place to visit and ones you do.. you will keep...

Vergangenes Wochenende durften wir meinen Geburtstag im Curios Bistro & Café in Köln feiern – und es war in jeder Hinsicht ein Erlebnis, das uns und unseren Gästen noch lange in Erinnerung bleiben wird.

🥘 Das Tapas-Buffet war schlichtweg hervorragend: vielfältig, fein abgestimmt und mit spürbarer Liebe zum Detail zubereitet. Jede Auswahl war ein kleiner Genussmoment, der beim gesamten Tisch für leuchtende Augen und volle Teller sorgte. Man merkt sofort – hier versteht man sich auf Qualität und Authentizität.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Der Service war aufmerksam, freundlich und dabei wunderbar unaufdringlich. Vom ersten Kontakt bis zum letzten Glas war das Team präsent, hilfsbereit und stets mit einem feinen Gespür für die Situation – man fühlte sich wirklich willkommen.

🎭 Die Unterhaltung war angenehm feinfühlig integriert: mal charmant, mal mit leisem Witz, immer niveauvoll – und nie aufdringlich. Sie ergänzte den Abend stimmungsvoll, ohne dabei den Raum oder die Atmosphäre zu dominieren. Eine sehr gelungene Balance.

🎉 Unser Fazit: Ein rundum stimmiges Erlebnis, getragen von herzlicher Gastlichkeit, kulinarischer Qualität und einem aufmerksamen Miteinander. Unsere Gäste waren begeistert – und wir selbst sind dankbar für diesen schönen Abend.
