What a spectacular meal to close my first visit to Cologne!

I had tried to visit this restaurant on my first night in town but by the time I got to the restaurant after a fairly long trip made of many legs, the kitchen had just closed.

I set my mind on in coming back a few days later, on my only "free" night.

Now that I've done it I can say that I couldn't have made a better choice!

The personnel is welcoming, gentle and incredibly efficient. They offered the type of warm familiarity that I love.

The menu is not overly long but it has exactly the things that I wanted. I struggled to choose what to order.

I landed on a dish very similar to what I had days before. But I had seen a picture in the reviews of another local guide and wanted to try.

I was rewarded with an incredibly rich plate that seemed prepared by a loving grandma.

The balance of flavor between the schnitzel and the mushroom cream was perfect.

The potato sliced and pan fried were cooked to perfection to the point that I felt I had to document with a picture how many "breadcrumbs" of perfectly roasted potatoes I could find in my plate. Basically every bite was a special gift of taste.

I really enjoyed the mini starter with spreadable butter with garlic and herbs that felt light like a foam.

Will definitely go back when...

The Brucken is our favorite restaurant!! We love Tonya and her staff! Her restaurant is small but packs a mighty punch for the German palate! She delivers spectacular fare from the most mouth watering meatballs - we order them every time we go!! My husband always gets the same Schnitzel with the cheese & mushrooms. I’m the adventurous one that always tries whatever she has on special from the venison to the duck, lamb etc.

We’ve been coming here for years now! I’m embarrassed to say it has taken me over 4 years to write this review.

Please make sure to send her an email before you go - even if it’s the same day. She’s quick to respond to confirm your reservation. Call too if you like! Especially in the cooler months or rainy days - you will want or need to sit inside and the seating is extremely limited. Also be aware of the various holidays here in Germany kicking off on Nov 11th each year with parades this is crazy busy everywhere.

Bugün 8 misafirimle burada akşam yemeğine geldik, hemen girdiğimiz anda balık kokusu aldık, geçer diye düşünerek yemekleri sipariş ettik ve beklerken aşırı yağ kokusu çok rahatsız etti. Ama mekan güzeldi biz de beklemeye devam ettik. Önden mezeler geldi, ardından yemekleri uzun süre bekledik ve bu sürede yanmış yağ kokusu ile balık kokusu birleşti, dolayısıyla ortam aşırı iğrenç kokuya maruz kaldı. Yemekler geldi, görüntü güzeldi tadı da iyidi çoğunlukla ama felaket derecede tuzluydu. Etler, patates ve salata özellikle tuzluydu. Buradaki çoğu çalışanlar yardımseverdi fakat bir tane yöneticileri (biraz kilolu kısa saçlı bir bayan) biz hesap öderken geribildirim olarak yemeklerin tuzlu olduğunu söylediğimizde aşırı tepki gösterdi, sizlerden önce 20 misafirimiz geldi kimse bir şey bile söylemedi siz sadece bundan şikayetçisiniz nedense dedi. Ben Asyalı gözüktüğüm için aşağılayarak sizin damak zevkinize uygun olmamış olabilir diyerek ayrımcılık yapıp, kusura bakmayın demek yerine uzatmaya devam etti. Bizim geribildirimimizi sadece teşekkür etmek ve ufak bir gülümseme ile karşılamak yerine siz tabi ki gerçek yemek tadını bilmiyor olabilirsiniz diyerek asla bir yöneticiye yarışacak hareket yapmadı. Çok utandım ve teşekkür ederek oradan ayrıldım. Misafirlerime karşı da mahcup oldum ve özellikle buradan paylaşmak istedim. Bilginize, güzel bir yerde yer alan tatlı mekanınızda böyle insanlar çalıştığı sürece gelişim çok fazla olmayacak. Müşteri memnuniyetini iyi anlayacak ve geribildirimlere teşekkür ederek dinleyecebilecek insanlar size yakışır… Diğer misafirler için de burayı tavsiye etmiyorum fiyatı normalden azıcık yüksek ama hizmet kalitesi çok düşük… Gününüzü mahvetmek istemiyorsanız bu mekandan uzak durun. . . Leider war mein Besuch im Restaurant Brücke enttäuschend. Der Service war insgesamt nur in Ordnung, aber besonders die Oberkellnerin war unfreundlich, und es war leider ein subtiler Hauch von Rassismus zu spüren. Das Essen selbst war viel zu salzig und als ich versuchte, das Problem anzusprechen, zeigte die Kellnerin keinerlei Bereitschaft, zu helfen oder eine Lösung anzubieten. Aufgrund dieser Erfahrungen kann ich das Restaurant leider nicht weiterempfehlen.
