Apparately, you are only welcome here as a blonde German but " Ausländer bleiben draußen". I normally never leave a negative comment for any place I go to, but racism - I can not tolerate!!
A group of friends (7 people) came here to watch football match Germany vs. Spain yesterday shortly before 6pm. We saw they had still several tables empty so we asked nicely if we could get a table. One of the service staff ( already very unfriendly) directed us to a corner table on the Terrasse. We went there, but we realized we could not see anything from there so I asked again if we could change to any other table which had a better view at the screen. They told us it was not possible because all the tables were reserved. For transparency, some tables really had reservation signs but not all and they refused to give them so we took their word for it that they were all indeed reserved. We stayed but some of us were still standing by the fence and next to the table to be able to see the match and hoping to get a better spot. Suddenly I see and hear that a new group of young Germans came and asked for the table and they were given the exact table we were waiting for so it turns out the reservation stuff was a lie. To make sure I am not blaming the service staff something for no reason, I again asked one of the German guys that just had sit down if they had reserved the table prior or not and he confirmed that they did not have a reservation and that just walked in then. I could not believe the audacity that they just had ignored us and the new group was prioritized over us even though we got there and had been waiting for the table before. We of course raised the issue and were literally kicked out. Based on how rude the whole staff was to us from the first minute we entered there, it must have been because we were foreigners? Please explain!!
I have been living in Germany for 7 years now and this was the first time I experienced something like this. Shameful, really!! Of course we left and one of the service person even called at us while walking out "Gott sei Dank geht...
Read moreSuper unfriendly. As asked I waited to be seated outside - no one came. I went to the pub and approached the first person if I can sit outside - yes of course. No further navigation. So I just went, picked a seat. A waiter asked me, while serving other tables in his area: Alles gut? And I said “Yes” and expected a menu or any further interaction. Nothing for another 5 minutes. I picked a menu from another table and nothing for another 5 minutes - mind you that everyone was super aware of me, the hostess boy even pointed my way etc.. I then decided to approach and asked, if it’s normal to be ignored in this restaurant and he told me I was sitting in the wrong area (local people were sitting there). I mean 😅😅😅 This is literally your job to tell me or prevent this situation. Basically I was blamed for following instructions I was vaguely given after asking 😅 The waiter was a total jerk. We bumped into each other outside - while he was attending people to seat them… And as I read here, maybe I didn’t look like good money to them so they just...

We entered the restaurant and I asked a table for three, maybe my English pronunciation for three was a bit like free, and staff said free is for nothing, then I said three again, I thought he was making a joke but felt a bit weird (i wonder why correcting my English pronunciation in a restaurant?)
We signalled the staff for ordering and asking for bill, a staff came to us and lectured us, I quote: in Europe, waving your hand to signal the staff in the restaurant is unacceptable and considered rude, you should not wave but just wait until the staff come. Again, good to know but felt a bit weird.
We are not European but lived in the UK for 5 years and the Netherlands for months we always wave our hands to signal the staff in restaurants for ordering and paying. I wonder if this custom is a bit different in Germany? Or maybe because we are tourists and look...
