This is a local gem!! This place is very popular with locals and was packed during lunch hour. The menu is limited (there are only 3-4 things on the menu), but the food is packed with flavors and is absolutely delicious. The best pork chops I’ve ever had! Portions are large, so be mindful when you order. Again, this is a traditional local pub/restaurant, so they do not cater towards tourists, but this is part of the charm that makes this place so authentic. The service is great in a sense that they will make sure you always have a beer ready for consumption right next to you. They will continue bringing more unless you tell them you are done. When you come in, just act like a local and do not expect to be escorted to your seat. Rather, look around, find an empty seat or table and go claim it. The waiter will come by with a beer and will promptly take your order. It is likely that the menu will be in German, and English version will not be available. So either download Google translate app to help with ‘on the spot’ translation or research the menu online the night before. The atmosphere is awesome! When we were in for lunch, we were the only tourists, and the place was packed with local professionals having lunch and local retirees catching up over a few beers. If you are looking for an authentic local pub, this...

We went downstairs with colleagues, and the atmosphere was beyond loud — people shouting, singing, clinking glasses, the whole circus. Locals were doing it all night long, no problem. The moment we joined in (exactly the same way, just not in German), suddenly it wasn’t okay. A waiter marched over and literally shouted at us to “shut up.” Apparently, the rule here is: noise in German = fine, noise in any other language = forbidden.
The service in general was rude, dismissive, and insulting. Instead of hospitality, you get barked at. You don’t feel welcome — you feel like you’re in someone’s bad-tempered living room where guests are tolerated, not served.
As for the food: it’s traditional German fare. Heavy pork, simple, nothing sophisticated, but okay for what it is. Honestly, the food is not the issue — the treatment is.
We left feeling disrespected and uncomfortable. If this is supposed to be the “authentic Cologne experience,” then congratulations: it’s...

On my first hour in Cologne I found out this place. At first I wasn’t sure of being in the right place because it was dark, cold and rainy. Then I noticed how crowded the place was and had to do the line to get a shared table. I didn’t take more than 10 minutes and we got beers on the wait. We sat with a German-Rumanian couple very friendly and funny. On the same table there were two Italians just having diner. It has a great atmosphere and you can talk to anyone in any language. Beers will come and go while you wait for the whole thing, during and after.
Try the big piece of meet with fries or Russian salad. Wursts are good as well. I loved the food and this exclusive beer they sell [ I heard this brand is only sold in 6 different places and it is popular in town ].
P.S. don’t ask for beers, they will bring them when time is right. If you don’t cover the top of your glass you will get as many glass of beer...
