I saw the good review and went there to try as there isn’t really many good breakfast or brunch places in cologne, but I must say I was quite disappointed especially after a very long wait. We waited 30 min for a table even when the table we ended up sitting had been empty the whole time but the lady inside just told me to keep waiting outside until she calls me (and no, there was no reservation). After we ordered the food at the counter and the sat down outside, we had to wait for another 30 min for the food to arrive. No one we really serving us in the meantime after from leaving the juice and coffee at our table. I think the place could have been managed a lot better in my opinion. We had pancake and scrambled eggs. The food was not very warm when it arrived and it was quite dry and not so tasty. We simply were so hungry and just wanted to fill our stomach and leave quickly in the end.. The place is ok if you are only there for a quick coffee chat with friends.

Delicious vegetarian food and a huge garden patio in the back. This café has a minute vegetarian menu that you have a few seconds to explore... The menu is on located on seperate boards behind the counter. Since you're ordering at the counter, with a line of people behind you, the stress is on to order quickly. It would be nice to have a menu outside the shop to look at when standing in line. The staff is super friendly and answered our questions (in English and German) well. The servings are a little small and I noticed many people ordering a second breakfast dish to feel full. My galette with avocado and an egg was very filling and packed full of tasty goodness, so no need to ask for a second helping of anything. The coffee was also delicious! It could have been a little hotter but that is just how I like my coffee. Their table markers are animal figurines which look absolutely adorable in the garden patio - it's like a little jungle zoo.😃

Very much "instagram style" breakfast/coffee place. Nonetheless coffee and breakfast do not just look good but taste very good as well. Service is very friendly despite being very busy and quite a lot of effort is being put into keeping the tight workspace behind the counter clean and tidy. The place looks a little run down but this should not lead you to conclusions regarding food and drinks: Those are impeccably prepared, fresh and served right to your table/to the little mascot that you receive when placing your order. (Leading to funny conversations like "Is this the flat white for the lion or for the baby rabbit?") If it were a little less cramped the experience would be even better. All in all a positive way to start the day in Cologne. To be repeated.

I feel torn giving this review as I’m all for independent businesses and I like what hommage Cafe stand for, however my experience wasn’t good.

The place is very cramped, like uncomfortably so. As soon as you walk in you are forced to order at the counter, before you can sit at your table. The menu is not printed but written on blackboards behind the counter. The problem is you can't actually see the menu because the staff are standing in front of it serving customers. From what I saw of the menu it was very limited, maybe variations of four dishes.

We ordered 2 coffees, a peanut cake and 2 plates of scrambled eggs and tomato. After which we were shown to our "table" which was located right next to the toilet. I mean this table was so close to the toilet we actually hear and smell what people were doing in there. Needless to say the smell did not add to the experience.

The coffee came out quick and it was very nice. The food came shortly after and was also quite nice, although the tomatoes were cold - they had obviously been pre-cooked and refrigerated. The peanut cake was so tasteless, for a moment I actually considered taking a COVID test - turns out it was just the cake.

I’m sure had we sat at the back of the cafe and ordered pancakes the experience would have been completely different but on this occasion it wasn’t. I certainty wont be going back.

Tips for the owners:

Print some menus and allow customers to order from their tables Change the layout to allow more space for tables Remove the “toilet table” Providing the kitchen allows, grow the menu...

Homage Café in Cologne was a real gem — a cozy, charming spot with a lot of heart and attention to detail.

We tried two dishes: the sweet pancakes and a savory crêpe with egg, and both were fantastic. The pancakes were beautifully presented — a stack of fluffy goodness topped with creamy sauce, coconut flakes, pistachio crumbs, and a fresh raspberry on top. Surrounding the plate were colorful slices of fruit like strawberries, apple, kiwi, grapes, and orange, making it not only delicious but a real feast for the eyes. It felt fresh, light, and not overly sweet — just perfect for a brunch treat.

The savory crêpe was equally impressive. The buckwheat crêpe was thin yet hearty, filled with fresh ingredients, topped with a perfectly cooked sunny-side-up egg, peppery arugula, a sprinkle of sesame seeds, and a drizzle of a sweet balsamic glaze. Every bite had a great balance between savory, peppery, and slightly sweet flavors — really creative and satisfying.

The atmosphere at Homage Café was very relaxed, with a bit of a vintage touch, making it a great place to slow down and enjoy your food. The staff were friendly and welcoming, adding to the positive vibe.

Overall, Homage Café is a must-visit if you’re looking for a delicious, well-crafted brunch in Cologne. We’ll definitely be...
