Il Cancello — Restaurant in Cologne

We went there and ordered one Cesar Salad, one Pizza Margarita and one bruschetta funghi pizza! First: Since we ordered, it took them 80 minutes to bring our food and we asked twice they were like oh it’s coming! (They have forgotten our order and not telling us). They didn’t say sorry or anything!!

Second: The Cesar salad had tomato and cucumber inside!!!! And in the menu they didn’t mention it in the menu! ( See the photos). At the time we want to pay, we tell the waiter that it was not a Cesar salad and it is not what I saw in the menu and ordered, instead of listening to me and even apologizing for the mistake he argues that the Cesar salad is like this in our restaurant! He doesn’t even know their own menu! He is not even accepting the mistake!

Third: There was no ham on the bruschetta fungi pizza, it was just mushroom on the pizza. We also tell him and he is like no it’s still the same price!!! We try to tell him it’s not about the price, this is just not what we wanted!!! We could have ordered fungi pizza! For this one he also says oh you have to say it right there when you receive it!! He cannot think when you wait 80 minutes for your food , you are too hungry to ask them for any correction and waiting half an hour more! They were only paying attention to us at the time of payment, before that they just put things on our table and runaway! We needed a tissue, not a minute that they are even available that we ask for it, as obviously there was also no tissues on our table!

Nothing about this restaurant is nice or customer friendly! We asked to see the manager and they told us she is not here!

To the manager: If you see this comment, if you’re not familiar with Italian food just don’t run the business of an Italian restaurant! Also try to teach your staff basics of customer service and professional communication! Try to teach your chefs make the food as it is in your own menu! And try to manage your restaurant in a professional manner. Never ever here again and I will tell anyone I know in this city to avoid this...

We ordered food and sat down and waited. And waited... and waited... after 30 minutes the waitress put some empty cups of oil at our table (which I assume came from another table?), and after 10 more minutes we got our appetiser. Fast forward 20 more minutes and we got our pizzas. The pizza was very good and we got a good food/price ratio.

Out if the three waiters there, only one of them seemed to care about our presence. The two others on the other hand were busy talking the good waitress down, when they weren't busy talking to their friends.

This little place fast become one of my favourites, the staff were very attentive and served quickly, this place also takes card payments as a lot in this area are cash only.

The food was good although we only had deserts as it was a nice day after we'd had lunch but the quality and delivery of the food was good, I would have definitely eaten here more and will go back.

We visited here a few times on our travels but mainly just for a quick stop off for beer/drinks. Good value, nice staff and very clean little place. 10/10...
